Mission: Return to Tyra
Location: Various

Previousy on Star Trek Wayfarer:

As adrenaline ran through Akeno's veins, she returned to her chair and pulled up the console between the command chairs. It was time to defend her ship, her home and her family.

When the turbolift opened for Mashiro, they were met with a very agitated Havana brown cat. The feline's eyes glistened at it looked up at Mashiro and let out a loud intimidating hiss. It clearly was not thrilled at the presence of Mashiro or the Gamma. Regardless, it quickly darted between Mashrio's legs and headed out onto the bridge.

"Jesus Christ!" Mashiro shrieked, nearly dropping her phaser in all the commotion. "Somebody restrain that damn thing before I vaporize it!"

It found its way to Captain and leapt upward onto Akeno, purring up a storm and nudging the Commanding Officer. Perhaps in the captain's moment of need, the cat had come to offer some support and comfort with its warmth and soothing purring.

Akeno jumped at the sudden appearance of the cat and it jumping up onto her knee. "Where did you come from huh?" she said softly as she scratched between the cats ears. She lowered her voice to almost a hush. "Its almost like you knew I needed some comfort..."

The cat slow blinked at Akeno, circling around for a few moments before settling in on the Captain's lap. This was the best seat in the house, a commanding view where the real action was at. The perfect place for a cat, just a plain simple mischievous house cat.

Luna had wanted to react, but events unfolded so fast all she could do was smiled in appreciation to the cat in the Captain's lap.

The comm had gone silent for several minutes. Raelyn was about to order her men to the bridge in fear that the Jem'Hadar had overrun it. "Captain, your orders?"

"If they re not on deck three, they'll likely be heading to Main Engineering. I've been informed that's a typical tactic to secure a vessel." Akeno responded.

And now the continuation...

[Deck Eleven]

A hatch opened on Deck Eleven and a phaser rifle peeked out as if scouting. Footsteps echoed down the empty corridor, it was crewman Remella. With an engineering kit in hand she was on her way back to Engineering after working on a broken plasma conduit on deck twelve. At twenty three years old she had a slight spring in her step and her blonde hair was tied up in a ponytail.

She stopped as she noticed the open hatch. She looked up at the alert lights, flashing slowly in red. "This should be locked..." she said out loud as she reached for the handle. Suddenly another hand grabbed her wrist and with a deafening crack snapped it backwards on itself. A piercing scream erupted from her as the two Jem'Hadar soldiers rushed out of the hatch. The one holding her wrist pinned her against the bulkhead holding her up by her throat.

"Your engine room!" He boomed. "Which way! Tell me! Now!"

Remella wriggled against his grip, struggling to break free. His hand tightened on her throat. "Tell me!"

Struggling for air Remella responded. "Next left... to the end... turn right... large door to Engineering... on the... left..." she struggled to say. The Jem'Hadar released her as she fell to the ground, her good hand instantly reaching to her throat. She could breathe now and that was scary. She didn't have time to enjoy it though as the Jem'Hadar quickly grabbed her head and with one quick twist snapped her neck. Her limp body fell to the ground.

"Weak..." he muttered before turning to the other soldier. "Let's go."

[Outside Main Engineering]

The two Jem'Hadar soldiers stood either in front of the large door that led into Main Engineering. They had been prepared to storm in and take the room in the name of the Founders. However the door was sealed.

Now, they were attempting to force it open. The sound of their attempts to break in echoed loudly around Engineering. After a few moments they managed to shift the doors a few millimeters open, enough to wedge something in the gap and pry the doors.

With the two Jem'Hadar soldiers focused deeply on breaking through the blast door into engineering, Raelyn and her team quietly approached them. She ordered her team set their phasers to highest non-lethal stun setting, but also told them to put the soldiers down if it was a last resort scenario. She'd rather the Jem'Hadar be alive even after this. She didn't want any more death on her conscious.

Once they were within range she nodded to her team to stun the two soldiers, if possible. Raelyn fired the first shot, and the rest of the team followed. One stun wouldn't knock these guys down.

On the inside of the engineering hall, security officers and engineers were in formation, weapons in hand. They were ready for the Jem'Hadar. They were terrified however. They had no way of knowing how many there were.

The banging and prying grew louder and louder. They may have outnumbered the soldiers, but the Jem'Hadar were far stronger.

On the outside one solider turned to retaliate on Raelyn's team. She motioned for half the team to take him on, while the rest of the team focused on the Jem'Hadar prying the door open. He saw the attempt to split up the targeting between the teams and made a rash decision to charge Raelyn, as he knew she was in charge of the team.

He was charging in such a rash way that Raelyn found a way to exploit it. It was like the soldier had tunnel vision, just charging Raelyn, like she was the target of a heat seeking missile.

"FOR THE FOUNDERS!" The Jem'Hadar yelled.

Raelyn let him latch onto her, but before he could do anything she slammed his head against the bulkhead with such force that the blow forced him onto the ground. It appeared as if he was downed.

Meanwhile the other Jem'Hadar got the door open, but before he could do anything the rest of Raelyn's team continued firing and downed him instantly.

Raelyn tapped her communicator and sighed in relief as some of her mean went in to sweep engineering. "McKenzie to Misaki, the Jem'Hadar soldiers here are downed, we're-" she was interrupted be a screech and someone pushing her with force into the opposite bulkhead.

She fell and was dazed. Her head was bleeding and she felt like she had been hit by a starship crash-landing onto a planet. Her vision was everywhere. Was she concussed? Raelyn looked up in pain to see the soldier she had downed approach her menacingly, with her own men firing on him. He just wasn't going down.

She was weak now. Was this it? She instinctively reached for her phaser. It wasn't on her holster. The soldier was closer. Stumbling and grumbling with every hit from Raelyn's team. She was going to die. She smirked. At least she'd die fighting one of the Federation's greatest enemies.

He was so close that he began to raise his fists. He was about to bash her head in. But in a second, Raelyn remembered her combat knife. She had forgotten about it. She wore she'd never use it. She twirled it in her fingers instinctively and pulled the soldiers head down...

[Bridge]

"Captain. Security reports that only two Jem'Hadar were found near Engineering. That leaves three unaccounted for." The officer who was now manning security whilst Raelyn was off the bridge reported.

Akeno picked up the cat and placed it gently on the empty XO's seat. She tapped her comm badge. "Misaki to Munetani. Security have secured two Jem'Hadar near Engineering. Three are unaccounted for, I believe that they may be heading for the bridge..."

Akeno stood up and took a step forward. "We're already here!" The voice of Galag'Rin said. Akeno froze. Without warning he appeared out of his shroud right in front of Akeno. The two other Jem'Hadar emerged too. One with a firm grip on the officer at Security, the other holding the officer at Operations.

Galag'Rin reached out and grabbed Akeno by the collar. He then turned to Luna. "You. Half Klingon. If you want your Captain to live. Get this ship moving. Take us to the Dominion! Then I will give you a honourable death!"

"Don't you dare Luna!" Akeno shouted out. She was quickly silenced as Galag'Rin's grip on her collar tightened. "That's an... ord... order!"

Luna snarled a miriad of curses as the Jem'Hadar appeared, adding more as they attacked the Captain and crew before she could move!

"I see you need some persuasion..." Galag'Rin said simply. "You can't follow the orders of your Captain of she isn't here." He continued to stare at the Half Klingon, while doing so he pulled a sharp dagger from his armor.

The pain was quick and intense as the dagger penetrated Akeno's skin and flesh. She let out a scream, only to be muffled by Galag'Rin's hand as he drove the knife deeper into her stomach. She could feel the warmth of the blood spreading from the wound, soaking her uniform as he held her up. Then she was falling, it seemed to last ages, as if in slow motion.

Captain Akeno Misaki hit the deck with a thud, the dagger protruding from her stomach as she laid in a slowly expanding pool of her own blood. Her eyes closed as she lost consciousness and the whole room fell silent.

"Your pathetic Weakling of a Captain will be dead shortly." Galag'Rin told Luna. "Resist and we'll kill everyone on this ship." He looked over at the Soldier who was holding the Operations Officer and gave him a nod. Without hesitation the Jem'Hadar twisted the operations officers neck, snapping it cleanly and threw the Starfleet officer away like discarded trash.

"I have control of their life support systems." He announced a few seconds later.

"On my order you will disable it on all decks but the bridge." Galag'Rin said. He turned back to Luna. "What will it be then? Disobey your dying Captain's orders? Or kill your entire crew?!"

"[Kalis...what do I do?! My family's been attacked, some of them murdered right in front of me! I need to save them, save Eclipse! Help me Kalis!]" Luna pleaded silently as she felt her world falling apart.

A picture appeared in Luna's mind of a time from her past...she was facing a Klingon trial and had her back against a literal wall facing a similar situation: two friends were being held hostage, while a group below were going to be shot down like dogs.

"[This is a Kobiashi Marue! I have to beat the system just like Admiral Kirk did! How do I go about it though...]" Luna's eyes widened.

"Computer, iniciate protocol Delecita Asperelda," Luna smiled wickedly as the Bridge plunged into darkness.

The two Jem'Hadar soldiers accompanying Luna immediately withdrew their shock sticks and began to encircle the Conn Officer, their eyes flashing with murderous intent as her insubordination signaled that the killing of their sworn enemies could begin. The one on the left suddenly lunged forward, his weapon raised and a guttural war cry emanating from the deepest recesses of his throat as he prepared to strike. However, before his blade could land, his head suddenly exploded and he crumpled up in a heap at Luna's feet. Stunned, the remaining Jem'Hadar glanced behind him, but was cut down in similar fashion. All heads turned in the direction of the Turbolift, where, against the faint glow of Zolgon'Tar's own Shock Blade, the bridge crew could just barely make out the silhouettes of Mashiro, Raelynn, and the Wayfarer's security detachment, phaser rifles raised and pointed directly at Galag'Rin.

"You can take 'em, Lieutenant!" Mashiro called out in the darkness.

Luna kicked out, connecting with Galag'Rin's legs, not sure if she toppled him or not but she was already moving, hitting buttons and locking/unlocking systems, insuring she and Eclipse, whom they didn't know existed, could make anything work.

The security team moved quickly to flank the Klingon Conn Officer, their weapons still trained on the insubordinate Gamma as he lay helplessly at Luna's feet.

"Nice one, Lieutenant," Mashiro applauded.

"Computer, lights please. Now my dear, Galag'Rin, I now have control back of my ship, so you can surrender, or I can tell the Computer to kill you. Your choice," Luna smiled wolfishly.

"This has gone on long enough, Galag'Rin," Zolgon'Tar issued sternly. "This war has been lost, and the Founders have forsaken us; we have nothing to gain from fighting the Federation anymore; stand down."

"Computer, beam the Captain to Sickbay immediately. Doc, Captain's coming in hot," Luna spoke calmly and efficiently.

Galag'Rin wasn't expecting any of that. "Kill me. I have failed The Founders. I am not worthy." He stuttered.

A long silence followed before Zolgon'Tar stepped forward.

"You have fought well to regain your life. And while you have not succeeded today, giving up now will earn you no favors with the Founders. Instead, let us earn that right to live, together, instead of fighting another meaningless battle- Victory is life, and living is the greatest victory."

And with that, the security team moved to restrain Galag'Rin and lead him off to the brig.

[I hope Eclipse is okay,] Luna thought, part of her relaxing as Galag'Rin was lead away.

"Delecita Asperelda..." Mashiro muttered, turning to Luna. "Where did you think to use that strategy, Lieutenant?"

"I was reminded of something from my past, which them brought to mind what Admiral Kirk did when he beat the Kobiashi Marue," Luna said simply.
