| General Overview | As a stark contrast to her commanding officer's relaxed, outgoing demeanor, Lieutenant Commander Munetani is a strict, no-nonsense officer who expects her charges to uphold Starfleet protocol to a T. While this can occasionally lead to some friction developing between herself and her subordinates, her level-headedness and sense of rationale often make her the voice of reason in many a sticky situation. In spite of her academic prowess, Lieutenant Commander Munetani seems to be cursed with bad luck, as every other assignment it feels as though she's being shot at or destroying something important; it's gotten to a point where she's starting to wonder if the universe is out to get her. Due to a traumatic experience from her childhood, Lieutenant Commander Munetani has been diagnosed with Acute Ailurophobia; this fear extends to all beings of feline nature, including Caitians. To help her cope with her anxieties, her previous Commanding Officers have ordered her to undergo counseling on a monthly basis; she's also been undergoing exposure therapy to help her cope with certain stimuli that she has come to associate with cats. |

| Personal History | (With Will's permission, I am hoping to develop this profile as we go; until then, please bear in mind that Mashiro's Personal History and Service Record are a Work-In-Progress) Mashiro Munetani was born on May 27, 2348, as the youngest of three children. Her family already had a long, storied history of serving in Starfleet, stemming all the way back to her great-grandmother, Sadoko. Over the course of her informative years, Mashiro was almost religious in her studying habits, as good grades would reflect positively on her Starfleet application form. Her mother, evidently moved by Mashiro's commitment to Starfleet, elected to gift her with a ceremonial baseball cap that paid tribute to her first command, the Excelsior-Class USS Arizona (NCC-2031), on what would be Mashiro's sixteenth birthday. Having witnessed her mother wearing the cap every time her family attended the annual Starfleet Recognition Dinner, Mashiro was evidently touched by the gift, and vowed that she would take good care of it. Unfortunately, shortly after she enrolled in Starfleet Academy, her dorm mate threw out the cap by mistake. To this day, Mashiro still hasn't gotten over it. |
