Dire Situation

Mission: Cracks in the mirror
Location: Conference Room.

"All senior staff, report to the conference room immediately" the voice of Akeno called out shipwide. "I will join you all there shortly".

After seeing Commander Korak back to his ship, Mashiro was evidently surprised when she entered the conference room to find herself the first one there. Shrugging, she took her seat adjacent to (what would've been) Akeno's and began sifting through her PADD, hoping that Akeno had messaged her privately regarding the nature of the situation.

Nothing; she hated being kept in the dark on these things.

Soon after Mashiro entered the room, the Wayfarer's Security Chief entered the room. Raelyn quickly took her usual seat which was also adjacent to the Captain's seat but across from Mashiro's seat. As she sat down she nodded a greeting towards her boss and set her reports on the table. She had also taken a fresh cup of coffee with her, which she sat down next to her PADDs after she took a sip of the caffeinated beverage.

Rania entered the room and took a seat. She knew that this was going to be an interesting discussion.

Luna walked into the Conference Room.

"Hello. I'm sorry I'm late, had to calm down after that...that..." Luna took a deep breath to further calm herself.

Torvin took a deep breath as he stepped in, coming straight from a job, he rolled his shoulder a little, toolkit in hand and aching from a mix of frantic repair work and a few runs of being bounced around a Jefferies tube. The initial shots from the Klingons had left a mark.

The engineer gave a worn-down "Hey", before finding a seat to recover a bit while the others fell in.

Luna noted the less-than-chipper greeting, slipped over to the replicator, grabbed a coffee, and handed it to Torvin with a small smile.

As soon as the doctor received the captain's communication, he left the sickbay headed for the meeting room.

"Goor mornin" he said while he made his entrance in an half empty room, his uniform in perfect order and a data PaDD between his hands. He didn't lose time and immediately made his way towards his usual seat, laying his

Akeno finally entered holding a PADD. "Computer, seal the doors," she said simply. The doors of the conference room clicked and sealed shut.

"This meeting is strictly classified, as is our next mission," Akeno started. "I have spoken with Starfleet Command. We believe that the Wayfarer did attack the Klingon colony. But it wasn't our Wayfarer, it was one from the parallel universe known as 'The Mirror Universe'," Akeno told them.

"However, if the Terran Empire has risen to power again its a huge threat to everyone. We have been ordered to investigate this incursion and put a stop to it." The Captain looked concerned and serious, not a look that often graced her face.

"Last I heard of the Terrans, they were in open rebellion against the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance," Mashiro remarked, evidently perplexed by this development. "How is it that they've somehow reverted back to their old ways in just over a year?"

"I'm sorry, the who from the where are doing what now?" Luna was completely confused.

Somehow, in all of Luna's wanderings/general information overhearing, she'd NEVER heard of them!

"They are from an alternate reality, one closely linked to ours." Akeno explained to Luna. She then turned back to Mashiro. "I have no idea, but it seems the rebellion worked and they've somehow reclaimed some of their old ways. Not to mention ships similar to ours, its possible the schematics were stolen from us in some way" she added.

"So you're saying there's a possibility of a mole in our ranks?" Mashiro commented. "Someone who's found a way to forward confidential information between dimensions without our being aware of it?"

"They've stolen plans before. The Terran Rebellion managee to steal the plans for the Defiant class. No doubt they have their ways," Akeno replied.

"There's no doubt this is going to be dangerous. Terran's are highly aggressive and violent, and we will most likely encounter ourselves, however the alternate reality equivalent of us," Akeno told them all.

For a moment the doctor pondered Akeno’s words. Meeting ourselves…that would definitely prove weird to say the least, he thought.

Rania smirked and interjected. "Assuming our 'mirror' selves are still alive" the Counsellor asserted. "At this point, we can ascertain that you are alive causing problems."

"So it would seem," Akeno said with a slight sigh. "We need to first track this other Wayfarer. Then we need to find a way to force them back to their universe before more people are killed." she told them all in a more serious tone.

"There is also a possibility that they will attempt to either take this ship, or destroy us. If they do manage to access our systems, they may be able to get their hands on classified information stored in our computers," Akeno explained. "The last thing we want is for them to gain access to the codes for the Federation's defensive systems. That would be very bad..." The captain paused as she slid back in her chair coming to a stand.

"As from this moment, the ships computer will be locked down apart from basic functions. We will cut our link with the Starfleet Data Network and change the ships prefix codes," Akeno ordered. "I want all departments at battle readiness and continous long and short range sensor sweeps around us. Its imperitive that we find them and put a stop to their rampage."

Mashiro nodded. "I'll see to placing the ship on Yellow Alert until we determine that the other Wayfarer and her crew have been neutralized, Captain."

“Captain” the doctor spoke “Will the computer lockdown affect the sickbay and medical data as well?” he pondered “We often have to consult Starfleet Medical Database since, well, our knowledge is somewhat limited, especially given the number of different species we have on board” he explained.

Akeno nodded. "Sorry doctor, you'll have to download anything you need before we cut the link." She looked around the table "That goes for all of you."

Raelyn looked at Akeno. "I'll have my department run drills in the event that we get intruders. I also think that it'd be a good idea to get the rest of the crew involved in them in the event that we do get boarded."

Luna felt a shiver race down her spine at the thought of their being an evil version of her beloved Captain and crew...and herself.

"Captain...wwhat do we do if...if we meet ourselves?" Luna snarled and slammed her fist on the table at the weakness her voice betrayed...then balked at her actions and lowered her head and replaced the proverbial mask over her emotions.

"I am sorry, Captain. I won't show such weakness again," Luna spoke softly, not wanting any more anger to leak out from behind her mask.

"It's highly likely you won't encounter yourself Lieutenant. Terrans are very xenophobic, their hate for anything but Terrans/Humans is bigger than their drive to conquer and control." Akeno replied.

Luna nodded, taking a few deep breaths to finish calming her nerves.

Rania looked at Luna "Yes, take comfort in that," the Counsellor said scoffing. "Your counterpart will likely either be enslaved or already deceased, probably slaughtered by the Captain's counterpart" stated Counsellor Bhatti. Rania had no interest in thinking about a counterpart for herself.

Akeno nervously smiled at Luna. "Well, you never know..." she said.

"And just WHAT makes you think that, Bhatti? You truly think I would allow myself to be made a servant, or die some unhonorable death? " Luna snarled, starting to rise from her chair, not having heard the Captain.

After a few seconds of silence Akeno stood up. "We have less than six hours to prepare this ship for what we may find out there," she told them all. "Lock down everything and ensure that when we do find those Terrans, even if they do board us, they will get nothing of value."

"Right then. What are we sitting around for?" Akeno asked essentially dismissing the staff.

With a nod the doctor, once dismissed, gathered his data PaDD and exited the meeting room quickly making his way to the sickbay to locally download as many medical data as possible before the order of isolating the computer will be given.

Raelyn soon followed the doctor out and went straight for the Security Complex on Deck Nine. On her way she made a mental note to download everything she would need for the Wayfarer to be tactically proficient as well as secure in the upcoming days. She also made a note to run security drills for her security personnel in the event of intruders.
