Mission: When on Risa...
Location: Pau'Aulani Guest Beach

Previously on Star Trek Wayfarer:

"Its all for good fun!" Akeno replied with a grin.

The volleyball pit was full of life with many of the officers busy preparing for a game.

"Mind if I join?" he asked the present ones. "I'm no good, and I probably should play the judge but if any of you need two extra hands, I'm here" he said smiling.

"More the merrier. Plus Shiro-Chan needs some more on her team" Akeno replied.

And now the continuation...

"Are we ready?" Akeno asked as she held the white volleyball in her hands, she positioned herself ready to throw it into the air and start the game.

"Ready as we'll ever be," Mashiro sighed as she finished her warm-up stretches.

Luna bounced on her toes, eager to begin. She stole glances at Rosaleen, and ended up running into the volleyball net she was so distracted.

"Easy there, Lieutenant!" Mashiro called out.

"I don't believe I've ever seen a Klingon this... vivacious," Hiromi chuckled from the sidelines.

Luna blushed a little as she disentangled herself from the net and got into position, opposite Rosaleen.

Ileah was in her favorite position, Center, over her heard others could play it, in front of her she could Dig or move to 'Bump the ball to front for someone to Set. This is where her actual reflexes came into play, she knew all the angles that were her domain; a smile lit her face as she waited for the return of the serve.

Time to have a little fun down in the sand.

"Ready..." Raelyn huffed competitively. When it came to games like this, she could get competitive. Some times very competitive.

Rosaleen took up position on the right of Ileah, then smiled at Luna. "I hope you are ready for this." Suddenly, the air chilled as Rosaleen's features became like stone. You would almost feel the energy emanating from her.

Luna shivered, but then smiled, enjoying Rosaleen's adorable quirk.

Akeno sent the ball flying over the net with her fist. It went high into the air arching over towards Mashiro's team. She grinned as it seemed to hang in the air for a moment before descending.

Maneuvering herself into position to intercept the ball, Mashiro placed her wrists together and jolted her forearms upward right as the ball made contact, sending it back up in the air for a few precious seconds.

"Look alive, Lieutenant!" she called out to Luna as gravity took over and the ball began its descent near where the Klingon was positioned.

Luna blinked, then quick as lightning, got under the ball, and blasted it back toward Akeno's side.

Akeno lept high into the air. She reached high and smacked it hard over the net. Her hand stung a little after making contact with the ball.

The ball almost hit the sand but Mark, jumping towards it and stretching his right hand forward, managed to avoid it hitting the floor and, instead, making it bounce over the rear of his hand stopping the other teams scoring a point and leaving the ball "active" for his team to plan an attack.

"I got it!" Mashiro shouted as she leapt up in the air and spiked the ball back across the net.

The ball darted right past Akeno slamming directly into the sand, scoring a point for Mashiro's team. Akeno was a little surprised at the sudden power that the ball returned to them. "Darn it!" she said outloud.

"Phew!" Mashiro sighed, wiping the sweat off her brow. "That's one for Team Mashiro; good job, everyone!"

"YES!" Luna cheered, bouncing around excitedly...and running into the volleyball net yet again.

"Looks as if someone here's finally getting in on the team spirit..." Hiromi observed to herself.

"You're not getting off easy!" Akeno said as she readied herself for the next round. "Best of three?" she asked as she smacked the ball high into the air and over the net.

Before Mashiro had any time to react, the ball struck her square on in the face and sent her crashing to the ground.

Akeno froze, it was like watching slow motion. The ball plouging into the other womans face. 'She literally didn't see that coming...' she thought to herself.

"Ah, crap," Hiromi sighed as she moved over to the pitch and checked Mashiro's pulse.

"Shit; she's out cold!" she reported.

Akeno rushed around the net and crouched down by the side of Mashiro. "Does she often have this much bad luck?" Akeno asked Hiromi curiously.

"Well, I'd be lying if I said she didn't..." Hiromi remarked, attempting to stifle her snickering.

"Mark!" Akeno called out loud. She didn't use the doctors rank or position, that was her one rule when the crew were on shoreleave. However the Wayfarer's Chief Medical Officer luckily was on the beach with them. "Man down! Or should I say, Woman down?" Akeno called out.

Luna's jaw hit the sand at the same time as Mashiro did. "Does she have a glass jaw or something?" Luna thought, unsure weither to offer assistance or just stay where she was. After debating for a few seconds, Luna merly sat down so as not to be in anyone's way.

Mark didn't even have enough time to celebrate the well coordinated action that allowed the team to score a point that found himself staring helplessly at Akeno's shot hitting Mashiro straight on her face.

"That's why doctor's are really never on holidays" he commented while quickly closing in as soon as he saw her hitting the sand and heard Akeno's yell.
As soon as he crouched close to the commander he checked her pulse and breath to confirm she was breathing properly and she was only just out of conscience.

"Hey, do you hear me?" he started talking to Mashiro while asking the teammates for some fresh water.

"And this is why I can't have nice things..." Mashiro groaned weakly.

"Hey, its not my fault you intercepted the ball with your face Shiro-Chan" Akeno giggled as she held out a hand to help her up. "You doing ok?" she asked.

"Shut up and don't call me Shiro-Chan," Mashiro winced as Akeno slowly helped her to her feet. "Crap, I think I'm going to need an ice pack after that..."

"Why don't I go fetch you an ice-pack, Shiro?" Hiromi offered. "There's gotta be a lifeguard station nearby..."

"Don't feed her ego, Hiromi," Mashiro scolded.

Hiromi snickered to herself before she turned and set off to locate a first-aid station.

Mark helped Mashiro to stand and guided her towards the closest first aid station at the base of a lifeguard turret.

"Here" he told her while offering her an ice pack to put on the area affected by the strike of the ball. "I don't think anything is broken but if you will still have pain in say...an hour from now...let me know. I can double check it with better equipment" he finished, while smiling.

"Perhaps we should do something less hazardous?" Akeno suggested with a smirk.

Luna relaxed as Shiro revived. She moved over to Rosaleen and began nibbling her ear. "Maybe we can get Akeno to let us play Twister. I can think of a couple of VERY fun positions with that game," Luna whispered huskily, subtly putting her hand between Rosalen's legs.

Rosaleen turned face Luna, an impish smile on her face. "You do realize there is no way I can play that with this wrap on." The wrap around her waist was the only thing besides her smile that Rosaleen wore.

"Well...I COULD fix the wrap into a dress for you...but it'll cost you," Luna purred in a soft singsong voice.

Akeno smirked as she over heard Luna, she looked back at the Klingon with a mischeavous smile. "All in good time... All in good time...". There was no doubt that Akeno Misaki had many things planned for her crew, all of which were under orders not to use ranks or positions. This was going to be one hell of a holiday...

Luna's face paled at Akeno's overhearing her flirting. "Uh...er...gulp. Oh boy," Luna sputtered helplessly.

Akeno couldn't help but continue to smirk at Luna. She felt like she was finally getting to know her crew on a more personal level, and that meant she would know their strengths and weaknesses, ideal for when she needed them in the heat of the moment.
