Mission: When on Risa...
Location: Various

The Wayfarer dropped out of warp and slowed to Impulse at the edge of the system. Its nacelles dropping from their horizontal position back into place as it slowed. The huge outline of Starbase 12 loomed in the distance, the iconic 'mushroom' shape of the spacedock class seen from far distances stook out and was easily recognisable.

Captain Misaki sat back in her chair as the starbase drew closer on the main viewscreen. The Wayfarer was due to dock for just under two weeks for minor repairs, resupply and general maintenance work.

"Helm, take clear us with traffic control and begin docking procedures. Condition Blue" She ordered.

"Ay ay, Captain. Starbase 12 traffic control, this is the USS Wayfarer requesting permission to begin docking procedures, Condition Blue," Luna acknowledged, tapping the correct commands into her console.

[Sickbay]

With a start and a jerk Lieutenant Patra Rommel came to into a hazy world of numbness. She croaked out softly “Water”. She tried to take a deep breath to better clear her head, but by the known hells it felt as if someone had put a million fire ants in her lungs and told them to go to work. She was confused, ‘Where the hell am I’ she thought as she slowly turned her head, which brought a wave of nausea. “Hello, anyone there?” she croaked out feebly, her throat raw and mouth feeling like a cat’s litter box.

Mark was half asleep laying and trying to nap in a seat close to Lt. Rommel's biobed. His arms crossed on his chest, unshaved face and a worn out uniform. He spent quite some time in the sickbay lately, resting close by in case he was needed and to keep the watch on her. He was worried but he also felt guilty for not identifying those pulmunary issues first hand.

Patra's plea for water brought him back to an awaken state. He shrugged and shook his head to wake up definitely. It took him a fraction of a second to realize she spoke, he widened his eyes and immediately stood up reaching for the medical console of the biobed to monitor her vital parameters.

"Hey, good morning" he answered smiling in a low tone while double checking the readings that were within the standards "I can't give you water yet, I'll rehidrate you with an hypo shot..." he glanced at her "...you can just briefly wet your lips but don't drink" he finally told her stressing the fact that she was not allowed to drink yet.

"How do you feel? Do you know where you are, who you are and why you are here?" he asked as per the protocol to assess wether or not she was fine.

Patra glanced at Lieutenant Mark Johnson through blurry eye’s as she processed what he was asking “I feel like the whole damn entire Dominion Fleet fired everything they had at me, then to add insult to injury, Crash landed their three largest starships on top of me. After all that they allowed each and every one of the Jem’Hadar take a stab at me with their Kar’takin’s. Does that pretty much sum up what happened?” she asked in a croaking voice. “As for who I am, Lieutenant, junior grade Patra Rommel. Section head of Structural and Environmental Engineering. Serial number R96520266347524P. If you are asking me these questions and my blurry vision is correct I must be laying on a biobed in the sickbay of the USS Wayfarer.” She again rasped out. Looking at Lieutenant Johnson she smiled and said in a croaking and raspy voice “You know doc if you had really wanted to see me naked, you could have just asked instead of going through all this trouble.” She then considered what he said about not being allowed to have a drink of water “If I cannot have a drink of water, how about a shot of Jägermeister or Goldschläger?” she rasped as her eyes fluttered shut and she fell into a steady sleeping pattern, back in the realm of the living.

Mark pondered her answer "pretty much. We can work out the details of what heppened but the result is pretty much the same" he smiled mildly to then suppressed a laugh "Oh I'm sure you're the kind of person that will drop the uniform if asked" he winked at her while checking the reaction of her eyes to a light.

He finished the brief checkup, shot her the rehydrating hypo and shook his head "no drinks of any sort, for now" he smiled "but if you rest you'll be fine in no time and I'll promise I'll offer you a Jägermeister then. But not now. Now rest, I'll be here if you need anything" he told her watching the patient falling into sleep once again.

He finished updating the medical file and sank back into the chair he was napping in, waiting.

Patra was walking through the Sahara Desert, her mouth was full of grit and sand. Her lungs ached and burned and her skin felt like a million red ants were biting on her skin. She couldn’t remember how or why she was here. Didn’t she and Sabine come her for one of their archaeology classes? Damn it where was the rest of the group. Patra woke sweat pouring down her head, she heard the gentle hum of the air recycling system of the sickbay. It was blowing a cool breeze that felt good against her sweaty face and forehead. Her vision was better than when she woke the last time, judging by the lighting she would wager it was Gamma shift. The room was dark and quiet. She heard the sounds of steady breathing next to her and she turned her head. Next to her biobed was doctor Johnson. He looked like hell. She croaked out “Hey doc, why don’t you go get yourself something to eat, a sonic shower, and eight hours good rest. Your patient’s order’s, I promise to behave while your gone.” She waited to watch him startle awake.

Mark woke up to the voice of Patra addressing him.
His neck was hurting, he thought massagging it, probably due to the unconventional posture during his naps in that chair. He smiled at her words.
"Am I living in a parallel world where patients gives medical advices to their doctor?" he broadened his smile "Well, actually, our job are not that different. We both fix and repair stuff".
"Glad to see you're improving this fast." he said standing and stretching a little "I'll get some rest and a proper shower..." he watches himself "do I smell?" he asked laughing to then continue "...once we will dock at the Starbase" his exression gets more serious "I'll liase with the Starbase's CMO and get his team to visit and assist you"
He stared at her "At that moment and only at that moment...I'll take a shower, eat something in the mess hall and have a few hours of proper sleep." he smiled "but don't worry, it won't take long, we're probably on approach to the base as we are speaking" he reassured her.

Patra perked up a bit at that, "Which Starbase? How bad is the ship? Where is Warrant Officer Two Tezasaurez?" Her voice was rough and cracked when she asked where Tezasaurez was. "I need a full update on the structural and environmental damages and what has been repaired. Oh, for the love of God may I have a sip of water. My mouth and throat feel like a cat's litter box." She rasped out. Her brain was going a hundred miles an hour thinking of the structural damage the Wayfarer had suffered. Her own body was busy reminding her of the damage she suffered, her lungs hurt when she breathed in to deeply, her skin was scratchy from the dermal regeneration, and she still had a pins and needles sensation in her chest and left side. At least she could sense her left side now.

"wait, wait..." he said holding her forearm to try to calm her
"We're headed for Starbase 12, the ship is in good shape and Engineering is working on minor fixes and as far as your colleague is concerned, he is fine and healthy" he stared at her "You don't need anything except for some rest....Doctor's orders" he held her gaze.
"As far as engineering and the ship is concerned, there's plenty of people taking care of it as we speak" he then turned "Here, don't drink more than a sip or two" he said passing her a glass with just a bit of water in it.

Patra took a small sip of the water and swished it around her mouth before swallowing it, it was the nector of the Gods to her. She then felt the gentle bump against the ship and instantly knew the ship had docked. She looked at the doctor "Well doc looks like you can finally get that rest and shower. We have arrived at Starbase 12. I promise to be a good little patient and behave, for now." her voice was not as raspy, and her mouth and throat no longer felt like a litter box. "Say isn't Risa within the sector of Starbase 12? You should go and check it out doc? Fast Woman and Males, and Fast Action. A hedonist paradise." she said in a slightly raspy voice. "Just my luck I am laid up in sickbay." With that she fell back into sleep.

[Bridge]

The station grew larger as the Wayfarer glided towards it. The huge spacedoors slowly opened allowing the small Intrepid class to proceed inside the main hangar. The ship banked slightly as it headed for docking port Twenty Seven.

"Thrusters at station keeping. Nice and easy" Akeno ordered as the lights on the bridge slowly flashed blue.

There was a gentle bump as the docking latches secured the ship. "Well done everyone" Akeno said as she stood up. "Secure all stations and primary systems. Switch from internal to external power and shut down our warp core"

"Aye aye, Ma'am," Luna began tapping, sliding, enlarging, and shrinking different icons on her console. In a few minutes, Luna felt the shifting of the Wayfarer as it started shutting down and systems started shifting around. She couldn't PHYSICALLY hear it, but be on any ship long enough, even if you weren't an engineer, you could feel the subtleties that made each ship unique.

Akeno rose out of the chair and tapped her comm badge. "Captain Misaki to all hands. We have ten days starting tomorrow of shore leave. Starfleet Command has authorised it for all Personnel. Tomorrow morning Engineering teams from the starbase will begin repairs and maintenance work. We have the rest of the afternoon to secure all stations, finish any projects and prepare the ship for them" She paused. "Anyone staying on board, please let ne know by 20:00 hours. After that shoreline assignments can not be changed. Misaki out"

Luna was SUPER excited to begin the ten day R&R. Her shoulder had healed quite nicely on the trip, and she was looking forward to almost anything.

"Right, I have a meeting with the Admiral" Akeno said simply before walking over to the turbolift.

As Akeno neared the turbolift, the doors opened revealing that the lift was occupied by the brown feline that Akeno had encountered sometime ago in her ready room. The Havana Brown let out a soft meow 'greeting' the Commanding Officer of the Wayfarer before brushing against the woman's legs.

Akeno crouched down and began to pet the cat. "I see you're wandering around as usual" she said softly stroking between the cats ears. With that the turbolift doors closed as it began to descend into the ship towards the docking port.
