1,202 words; about a 6 minute read

Mission: Hunted
Location: Bridge/Various

The bridge was a hive of activity as the last minute checks were being completed ready for departure. They were due to leave spacedock in a few minutes and as always it was the last minute 'rush' to ensure they departed on time.

Akeno sat in her chair, deep in conversation with Mashiro. The centre console was open and they were going through the reports and status updates together. "Lets ensure that the airlocks and docking ports are cleared two minutes before departure." Akeno said as she tapped on their shared console. "We don't want anything to go wrong there. We should also start undocking the umbilical's about then as well."

"Good idea," Mashiro nodded as she reached up and tapped her commbadge. =A=Bridge to Engineering.=A=

=A=Engineering=A= Charlotte stated in response.

=A=We are ready to commence disembarkation procedures,=A= Mashiro instructed. =A=Keep us updated throughout the process.=A=

Charlotte glanced up at the ceiling as she continued her own work, making sure that all systems were coming online properly. =A=Okay.=A=

Raelyn stood quietly at the tactical station, confirming everything was in working order. They were. Nothing left to do for now on the systems themselves. She began coordinating security rotations to make sure they were in order.

Elias entered the bridge, tugging his uniform down to straighten out any wrinkles before he leaned on the railing behind the captain and XO’s command chairs.

“Once more unto the breach” he commented to Akeno and Mashiro

The XO visibly tensed at Elias's voice, and while she fought down her impulse to tell him to back off (which would no doubt spell the end of her career), she did at least make something of an effort to acknowledge her auditor with a subtle nod of the head.

Thank God she was facing away from him, as the hypervigilance in her eyes would've been a dead giveaway.

Akeno side eyed at Mashiro, ensuring that her XO could see her. It was a basic non-verbal warning for her to keep her cool and carry on.

The irony, of course, was not lost on either of them here; in most any other situation, it'd be Mashiro reminding Akeno to behave herself.

Luna mentally hummed a compilation of a Klingon battle song, and a Bajoran lullaby as she prepared the ship to leave the dock. The song combination would sound slightly weird to anyone not of either of those races, but calming to one who had the strength of both running through their veins.

Once green status lights showed across her console, Akeno gave Mashiro a brief smile. It faded as quickly as it appeared. She sat back into her chair. The console between the command chairs slowly returned to its closed position.

She tapped her comm badge. "All hands. This is Captain Misaki. Report to code blue stations. Prepare for departure." she announced. She focused her gaze onto Luna down at the helm. "Lieutenant, prepare the ship to depart the starbase. Once we have clearance from docking control, take us out on thrusters until we are clear of spacedoors."

"Aye, Captain. Thrusters warming up." Luna knew that wasn't exactly 'protocol words' but she didn't care. Her Captain and crew had been put through hell and she was going to do everything SHORT of something court marshal incurring to make them feel better!

[Sickbay]

Sitting in his CMO office, Mark heard Akeno's voice through the comm system and quickly answered.

=^= Captain, Sickbay here. All medical supplies are accounted for and the medical inventory is up to standards =^=

"Thankyou Doctor." Akeno replied simply.

[Bridge]

Luna's hands floated across the holo-keys as she got the ship ready to leave, adding some silly sounds, and a few color changes to lift everyone's mood. While she wasn’t sure it was doing anything, she was gonna try anyway.

There was a slight shake as the docking clamps released from the hull and the umbilicals retracted. The aft port RCS thrusters fired as the ship began to turn inside the huge interior hangar.

Charlotte confirmed on both cameras and console the clearance, then adjusted the thruster intensity, =A=Mooring clamps clear, thrusters over performing by five percent, adjusting output.=A=

=A=Copy that, Engineering,=A= Mashiro nodded. =A=Once we get underway, I want you to perform a level 2 diagnostic of the RCS thrusters, see if you can pinpoint what's causing the jump in performance; be sure to report your findings to both Captain Misaki and the Auditor for review.=A=

=A=Confirmed.=A= Charlotte keyed off the outgoing audio feed and scowled at the display in front of her, "This'll teach you to do better than you think you are, Charlie... Go above spec and they'll grill you more than if you screw up."

Elias didn't think much of it. 5% increase was good for a ship. Means the engineer knew their stuff. Elias' own engineer gave him more than that on his own ship. More power available for when they might need it is always a good thing to have, especially in a combat situation.

On the viewscreen the forward view showed the imterior slowly turning, then the view of the wall. Then after a few moments the Wayfarer was now facing the gigantic spacedoors. Red lights began to blink as the doors retracted, revealing the beautiful black star filled canvas of space beyond.

"Nice and easy Lieutenant." Akeno said directed towards Luna. "Once we have cleared spacedock set a course for the Tamong system and engage at warp six."

"What, I'm not allowed to do any barrel rolls?" Luna asked innocently....then, unable to keep a straight face, started snickering softly. "Aye, Captain, setting course for the Tamong System, Warp Six." Luna couldn't stop smiling, hoping her antics would help her family relax.

The nacelles of the Wayfarer rose to a forty five degree angle. There was a bright blue flash from the nacelle grills as the ship seemed to elongate before disappearing with another flash of light in the distance as the Wayfarer entered warp speed.

Akeno seemed to relax a little with the ship now on its way. She slowly rose from her seat and came to a stand. "Commander Munetani. Since we are underway. Lets not waste this time. Lets ensure that everyone is ready for what we might encounter out there. All departments should use this travel time to make preparations for our charting mission." she said simply as she looked back at Mashiro.

"You have the bridge. I will be in my ready room." She told her. She gave a fleeting glance at Captain McEntyre before striding off the bridge and through the doors of her ready room.
