Mission: Return to Tyra
Location: USS Musashi (NCC-71809)
Timeline: July 23, 2376

Dancing between star systems uncharted at several times the speed of light was the United Star Ship Musashi, a Galaxy-Class Explorer now in her 13th year of active service- a relatively short span of time, especially considering that there were Excelsiors out there that were in their eighties, or even older Mirandas that were in their hundreds, but in those 13 short years the Musashi had served with considerable distinction, having participated in the Ryloti expedition of 2368, the Second Battle of Massedias V, Operation Return, and the Battle of Cardassia, amongst several other noteworthy achievements.

Seated in the center chair was now her third Comamnding officer, a young female with Ash-blonde hair and Amethyst eyes. She had only recently been promoted to the position, seeing as her predecessor had been killed by falling debris in the Battle of Cardassia, and even a full year after the fact, her senior staff was still coming to grips with the fact that she was still younger than most of them, but she had proven in that time that she was a woman of strong discipline who could take charge of just about any situation she put her mind to.

And a lot was presently weighing on that mind of hers, not in the least because they were en route to the Tyra System, site of one of the single bloodiest battles of the entire Dominion War- no, what was of greater concern to her was that ship of which the Musashi had been tasked with providing aid to was commanded by an old friend of hers- a friend who had been through a lot in these past three years, and had experienced a lot more than any one individual should have to experience in a lifetime. She still considered this friend to be close, but it had been over a year since the two of them had last spoken- now that friend was in command of a full Intrepid, with several hundred lives that lived and died by her orders. Not that the Musashi's Captain believed her to be an incompetent leader by any means, but with everything her friend had been through, she wondered to herself how those experiences effected her ability to lead.

"Approaching the Tyra System, Captain," the Helm officer announced. "Preparing to exit warp."

"Excellent," the Captain nodded, before shifting her attention over to the Ops console. "as soon as we arrive, perform a sensor sweep to determine the Wayfarer's location."

"Aye, Captain," the Ops Officer nodded.

"Closing the distance," the Helm Officer reported. "exiting warp in 3... 2... 1..."

There was a slight shudder as the Musashi decelerated, the corridor of light dissipating and giving way to an unimaginably vast debris field littered with the twisted remains of the vessels that had fought here. Off in the distance, the Captain could make out the faint red glow of bussard collectors- most likely the Wayfarer, given the information she had been provided.

"I've got a ping on the Wayfarer," the Ops Officer spoke up. "Distance is approximately two kilometers from our present location; Bearing 352, Mark 020."

"Helm, set a course for those coordinates," the Captain ordered. "Bring us within transporter range."

"Aye, Ma'am," the Helm Officer nodded as he witched over to Impulse Engines and began to maneuver towards the Wayfarer.

A small chirp sounded from the Operations console.

"Captain, we are being hailed," she reported.

The Captain stood up. "On screen!"

The viewscreen switched to what the Captain immediately recognized as the bridge of an Intrepid-Class starship. Facing a screen was evidently not the friend that the Musashi's Captain had come to know, but another woman, with scarlet eyes and dark brown hair tied up in a high ponytail. The three full pips on her collar denoted that she was most likely an Executive Officer, if not one of the higher ups.

"This is Captain Moeka China of the Star Ship Musashi," the Captain announced. "To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with?"

"Commander Mashiro Munetani, Executive Officer of the USS Wayfarer," the woman on the other end replied. "You're just in time, Musashi; Science reports that our Ketracel White supply would have been fully exhausted within the next 16 hours."

"Is the Captain available to speak with, Commander?" Moeka inquired, evidently concerned by her friend's absence.

Commander Munetani nodded. "Captain Misaki is awake and available to receive visitors, however she is still in the process of recovering from injuries she sustained during an attempted mutiny yesterday morning."

"Mutiny?!" Moeka gasped. "Is everything alright over there, Wayfarer?"

"Everything is under control, Captain," Commander Munetani reported. "Casualties were minimal, and we expect the most critically injured to be discharged by week's end. A full incident will be provided upon your arrival."

"Understood," Moeka replied, breathing a sigh of relief. "I'll have an away team beamed over with the supplies you requested. Musashi out."

And with that, the video feed terminated.

"Ops, notify the cargo bay to bring up our supply of Ketracel," Moeka ordered as she began to make her way over to the turbolift. "Tell them to meet me in Transporter Room One."

"Should I also ask them to bring you your gift for Captain Misaki?" the Ops Officer asked.

Moeka smiled. "I think she's going to need it."

[USS Wayfarer, Bridge]

As the video feed cut, Mashiro stood up from her seat.

"McKenzie, Johnson, Wazumi, meet me down in Transporter Room 1," she announced. "Make sure we have that incident report ready to provide to Captain China upon her arrival."

A slightly rested Doctor Johnson showed up on transporter room 1 as requested by the XO. Although the situation was now under control, he didn’t have much of a chance to rest. Not enough, at least. He was sporting a fresh and new uniform, well dressed, up to regulations. Even if he was physically there, his head was still in sickbay where he should have probably been. Wounded personnel were still being treated and he was pretty sure he was more useful down there other than greeting the incoming party from the USS Musashi.

Hime showed up at the transporter room too. She was unsure why she had been called there.

Raelyn entered just after Hime rocking physical scars from the brawl outside Main Engineering. The medical staff had patched her up quickly, and her concussion was minor and had passed already. However her arms and legs were in pain. Fortunately, she had been cleared for duty. She figured she was there to provide the report for security's interactions with the Jem'Hadar.

Mark noticed her. "Commander" he said to Raelynn "once we're done nere come with me to sickbay. I'll get you a painkiller and try to patch up those bruises a little better"

Raelyn nodded. She knew better than to argue with the doc. "Will do. Thanks doc."

Luna strode onto the Bridge, polished, primed, and cold as stone.

"I'll take it from here, Ensign Kotel," Luna spoke softly.

"Yyes, Luna...er, Lieutenant Luna!" Kotel gulped at Luna's cold tone.

"Sigh. I am sorry, Kotel, I'm having trouble getting myself back together," Luna gave Kotel a small smile. Kotel nodded, smiling back as he relinquished the chair.

"Alright, let's get this over with," Mashiro announced as she stepped into the transporter room. "Energize when you're ready, Lieutenant."

"Aye, Commander. Energizing," Luna breathed slowly as she hit the transporter.

When the transporter buffer dissipated, they were greeted by a team consisting of five security officers (heavily armed, naturally), two medical officers, and Captain China herself; behind them were two large crates, and nestled in the Captain's arms was a small, cube-shaped gift box, draped in bright, confetti-colored wrapping paper and adorned with a small blue bow.

"My, this is quite the welcome wagon we have here," Captain China smiled, before directing her attention over to Mashiro. "Permission to come aboard?"

"No need to ask twice, Captain," Mashiro replied, gesturing for Moeka and her company to join them. "Permission granted."

Smiling, Moeka stepped down from the transporter pad, with her subordinates following suit.

"welcome on board" Mark echoed the XO closing in to the medical officers "As you can see we've had a bit of a rough time in here. Sickbay personnel is a but short on sleep and rest"

Moeka nodded. "I'll speak with Doctor Balthazarus and see if he can loan you some of his medical staff to ease your workload. Now, before we get too ahead of ourselves, I suppose I should inquire as to the whereabouts of your guests?"

"In the brig, currently," Mashiro replied. "One is interring himself there voluntarily, and the other three are being kept under heavy sedatives so as to prevent them from hurting themselves or others."

"Right, then," Moeka nodded. I don't suppose I could ask anyone here to show my men in the direction of the brig?"

Raelyn spoke up. "Yes ma'am. Right this way" she said to the security officers.

Nodding, the security officers moved to lift up the two heavy cases and cart them out of the room.

Luna silently listened to the exchange, curious as to why this Captain was aboard.

Mark just stood still, at the right of the XO.

"Won't you be joining them, Captain?" Mashiro remarked as Moeka's men were led out of the room.

Moeka shook her head. "I have every bit of confidence that they can handle themselves; I have more pressing concerns at the moment."

She turned her attention to Mark. "Is Captain Misaki available for visitation?"

"She is still recovering. We sedated her to help her rest but, if you need to talk to her, we can reduce the levels of sedative and awaken her temporarily. But I suggest you not to tire her too much." the CMO answered.

"I understand, Doctor," Moeka nodded. "I'll endeavor to keep this visit short."

Mark nodded "Sure. When you want I can accompany you in our sickbay to her" he offered.

"I might just take you up on that offer," Moeka smiled. "Lead the way, Doctor."

Mark nodded.

[Ah, this Captain is a friend of Captain Akeno,] Luna thought, a small smile twitching the corner of her mouth.

The XO seemed to echo Luna's sentiment, for as soon as the six of them left the transporter room, she decided to ask the question aloud:

"So..." she began, her attention wandering over to the gift box. "I take it you and Captain Misaki are acquainted?"

"Her Grandparents used to live just down the street from where I grew up," Moeka elaborated. "The two of us are childhood friends."

That seemed to come as something of a surprise to Mashiro, whose brow furrowed in silent curiosity.

"I see..." she remarked, though Luna could see she was making a mental note to try and speak with Captain China on a later occasion. "I take it you two were close, then?"

"Still are, it's just that she has her responsibilities now, and I have mine," Moeka admitted. "It's kind of tricky to get our schedules to line up when we're both commanding starships, if you know what I mean?"

"All too well," Mashiro sighed, knowing that she hadn't really gotten a chance to speak with her sisters since the War...

She shook her head. "Anyways... I take it that's a belated birthday gift

"Indeed," Moeka smiled. "She was born five days before I was, so we always used to celebrate our birthdays together. Of course, what with our duty assignments taking us to the opposite ends of the quadrant, it's been a while since we went all out with the birthday celebrations, but we do try and get each other a birthday gift whenever time allows."

The doctor listened carefully to the new Captain as he kept his normal pace while walking towards his Sickbay, trailed by the rest of the officers headed there.

"Woof! Man, that Captain's HOT!" Kotel, who'd not left the Bridge yet, whistled softly.

"You DO know she can end your career, as the Human's say, 'Six ways from Sunday' right?" Luna spoke over her shoulder, trying not to laugh as she could almost FEEL Kotel's face paling.

"Kotel, this will be going on your record," Mashiro warned sternly, before shifting her attention back over to Moeka. "My apologies, Captain. It would appear some of our staff need a little reminder about how to behave around visiting Captains..."

Kotel's gulp could be heard in the void of space!

"Oh, don't worry!" Moeka chuckled. "I'm flattered; really!" she glanced over at Kotel and winked. "I'm afraid I'm not interested in pursuing a long-term commitment right now, but maybe I might be able to treat you to dinner later tonight, Ensign? I will say, the Main Lounge aboard the Musashi makes some killer Chicken Parmo..."

"Ii'd be honored, Ccaptain!" Kotel sputtered, BLUSHING super red.

Luna developed a 'mysterious' coughing fit, which pretty much EVERYONE knew was fake.

[Sickbay]

Laid on the biobed nearest the surgical bay was Akeno. She had been changed into the sickbay 'pajamas', the duck shell coloured clothing that seemed to be common in all Starship sickbays. She was asleep still recovering.

"Here she is" the doctor accompanied Captain Moeka to Akeno's biobed. "I'll be in my office" he told her pointing at the CMO office in the middle of the room "if anything is needed" and said so he let the two friends some privacy to talk.

Moeka nodded and moved over to Akeno's bedside.

"Mike-Chan," she whispered, gently rustling Akeno's shoulder. "Are you there, Mike-Chan?"

Akeno briefly opened an eye and looked up. "Oh, hi." She said in a hushed tone.

Moeka smiled. "It's good to see you again, Mike-Chan," she whispered. "How are you feeling?"

Akeno couldn't help but pull a weak smile. "I've been better," she admitted.

"I can only imagine," Moeka chuckled, before reaching over and placing the gift box on Akeno's lap. "I figure you've probably had a rough week, so I got you a little something for your birthday; apologies if it's a few days late, but I figure it's the thought that counts."

Akeno shuffled, pulling herself up to a sitting position. The discomfort of her doing so was evident as she finally sat up. "I'll give the Jem'Hadar one thing. They know how to inflict pain," she winced as she lifted up the box.

As she pried the lid off, a soft, but distinct mewling noise could be heard coming from within.

Mashiro immediately tensed up.

Akeno reached in and gently lifted out a fluffy ginger cat. She held him up in her arms as he mewed at her. "Aww look a kitty!" She exclaimed with a smile. She then glanced over at Mashiro with a smirk.

"Our Chief Engineer's Munchkin just recently had her first kindle," Moeka explained. "Unfortunately, this poor fella had the misfortune of being the runt of the litter, and his mother wound up rejecting him so she could focus on nursing his siblings; Sickbay has taken it upon themselves to hand-raise him and make sure he's been getting all his nutrients. He's been extraordinarily resilient, if a little needy at times."

She chuckled. "He reminds me so much of you, Mike-Chan; so full of life, even when the odds are stacked against him."

"He's adorable," Akeno replied as she cuddled the soft cat. "I think I'll call him Isoroku." She stated. "Thankyou Moka-Chan!"

"The pleasure's all mine, Mike-Chan," Moeka smiled. "Happy Birthday."

Isoroku mewed happily as he nestled into Akenos chest. "Stay as long as you want Moka-Chan. I could use a little company."

"I'd love to, but I have to get those Jem'Hadar back to the Gamma Quadrant. A Dominion ship is waiting to recieve them at the other side of the wormhole," Moeka explained. "But I'll swing by soon, okay?"

Akeno nodded. "Yeah." She replied giving her old friend a smile.

"Just, try to stay out of trouble, Mike-Chan?" Moeka smirked.

"I can't guarantee that." Akeno responded returning the smirk. "Afterall, I have an extra weapon to wind up a certain stick-in-the-mud!" She scratched Isoroku between the ears gently as she looked over at Mashiro.

Moeka laughed. Finally, she rose from her seat and gave Akeno a long embrace, before crossing over towards the doors where a now-concerned Mashiro stood. Moeka tapped her lightly on the shoulder. "Don't give her too much hassle; I know she loves her crew more than anything, yourself included. She's going to become one of those legendary Captains one day, I know it..."
