Retaking Engineering

Mission: Cracks in the mirror
Location: Main Engineering

Akeno led the way through the jeffries tubes, they had a long climb down to the Wayfarer's Engineering Room. They had stopped by a weapons locker on the way and armed themselves with rifles and hand phasers. Now was the hard part, the plan was to take Engineering from the upper level, it would give them an advantage.

Eventually Akeno stopped at an entrance hatch. She beckoned for them to gather around.

Raelyn stood at an angle next to Akeno, but facing her, unsure of what she was going to do or say. "Captain?"

"Let's circle around the upper balcony, keep low and focus your fire. Set weapons to stun," Akeno ordered.

Akeno opened the hatch and rushed out. She was ready to take Engineering quickly and swiftly. She took up position on the upper level and aimed her rifle down at the lower level. However what she was greeted with was shocking.

She stood up looking around confused. "Wait a moment..." she said. She waved for the others to join her.

Engineering was empty. No a single person was in the room, on either level. She raised an eyebrow as she lowered her weapon. "This doesn't seem right..." she said looking back at the others. "This area should have been guarded." she told them.

Only the sound of the warp core humming and could be heard, its soft sound casting an ambient sound over the new empty room.

Raelyn raised an eyebrow. "I don't like this" she said, concerned that it was some sort of trap.

"Ok, secure the room." Akeno ordered. "Lets see if we can access the main computer from here and find out whats going on!"

Ieah had done her part, the main Deflector charges were on remote, touch of a button and it would take out all power connections to the dish and force shop to put shields up to move or risk micro meters damaging the ship at high speed.

She wore a crystal she professed as being a relic, nope, it was a data storage with all rhe command codes and the program the Intel Chief had coded and removed from the Compiter Cores that are the operating system to decode the main Computer to activate and reboot to normal command codes instead of jibberish and zyntax errors.

Raelyn went into full sweep mode, like a swat team clearing a house. She silently began to clear out any of the offices and rooms attached to the engineering hall. She reached the empty Chief Engineer's office and took a moment to sweep the office. Nothing. She thought about calling out 'clear', but she decided against it, in the event that there were Terrans hiding. She left the office and moved to the next room attached to the engineering hall.

Spectre had no trouble sneaking across to the IKS Wayfarer and there is a very low grade command code in the computer, a safety measure for abandoning ship.

The exterior hull access hatches and most portals have explosive bolt system to send the hatch or glass clear to allow access to the outer hull and escape. Just a distress signal through the computer will blow every hatch and portal at the same time.

Not at all a healthy option as the combination of explosive decompression and natural physics would pull from all sides at one ripping the outer hull and the superstructure of the ship like an exploding can shell.

The ship might survive but the twist to the hull structure will not make them happy.

Akeno descended down the ladder and walked over towards one of the main command consoles. Usually this console would be manned by the ships Chief Engineer. She tapped on the smooth surface of the console, but it only brought up errors and random data.

She tapped her comm badge. "Misaki to Specter. We have secured Main Engineering. Are you able to allow us computer access?"

=^= I am having Ileah insert the control key Data Stick. =^= Specter replied. =^= The computer should be rebooting as we speak and only accessible at Engineering.=^=

The computer began to light up as the Yeoman finished the coding.

=^= Ileah toCaptain, you should have computer access from Engineering only.=^=

"Got it, thanks." Akeno replied as she tapped on the master control panel. Luckily the computer now recognised her command codes. Many of the Wayfarer's systems were still offline, including the security grid. Akeno sighed as she looked over the status of her ship.

"The crew have all been locked into their quarters." She read out. "Long range communications and external sensors are offline. So are tactical and propulsion systems." She told the others. "However, if there are no Terran's here, its likely they have withdrawn. We might be able to re-take the bridge and regain full control of the ship."

After securing the essential engineering systems, Akeno turned to the rest of her officers. "Lets get to the bridge." She said as she picked up her weapon and led the way out into the corridor.
