Mission:
The Games
Location: Lolrunian Planet
The stadium was huge and shaped like a hexagon. Rows upon rows of seats lined the stands and thousands upon thousands of spectators cheered and roared as the doors on each 'side' opened. Slowly four teams started to walk out into the spacious and vast arena which appeared empty.
Akeno led 'Team Wayfarer' holding the dark blue flag of The United Federation of Planets on a pole. Across from them were the Klingons, to the left Romulans. To the left of them were the Orions. Each team seemed to be dressed ready for the games, and each team Captain holding their flag.
"You guys ready to kick some butt?" Akeno asked of her crew behind her.
"As the Ancient Earth saying goes: 'I was born ready.'" Luna cracked her knuckles and grinned wolfishly as she studied the other teams.
Patra smirked and let out a small chuckle when Luna spoke out. She could appreciate the sentiment, but this in no way was going to be easy, especially since Orion's were involved. Klingons and Romulans had a sense of honor and fairness about things, Orion's on the other hand were fluid with the concept of honor and fairness.
"W...is that...well I'll be," Luna barked out a laugh after catching sight of the Klingon Commander.
Krotos blinked as one of the young women on the Wayfarer team caught his attention.
"Find out who that young woman is," Krotos spoke to his subordinate without moving his mouth. The Klingon nodded and shifted positions with another crewmember so that he could intersept the aforementioned woman after the 'Opening Ceremonys' finished...if such a thing was to be. Luna took note of the shift, and suppressed a smirk.
"Hey, Cap? Looks like I'm gonna be side-lined soon as the 'dog and pony show' part of this thing's over." Luna spoke quietly out of the corner of her mouth, almost inperceptibly tilting her head toward the new Klingon formation.
"You'll have to explain that later..." Akeno said back quietly. "It's not like you to back out from a challenge."
"Dang straight, Cap!" Luna barely kept back a full-blown barking laugh.
The Klingons looked just as ready for the fluff to be over as Luna was, shifting and re-shifting their stances in anticipation.
Patra blew a bubble from her ever present gum and then smacked it. She could care less about 'dog and pony shows' and diplomatic decourm. She eyed the Klingons, "Hey if the big ugly over there decides to get smarky with you Luna; let me know Luna. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that can put a male Klingon in his place."
"Ha! You would at that, Patra. Their Commander is a man I knew back on Kronos, not sure who the poser across from me is," Luna chuckled, cracking her knuckles in anticipation of finding out.
Shaddous walked out with the Orion contingent. In typical Orion fashion they were dressed in flash, ornate clothing, that accentuated their physical forms.
Vorek, trailed by Shaddous, stepped into the stadium and carefully studied the other competitors. A look of disgust was reserved to the Klingons, and a superiority snort went towards the humans.
"Uuuh, they give me the creeps. No wonder Father told me never deal with them," Luna growled, making herself look as imposing as possible.
"Hm, she's not fully Klingon, yet she holds the fire of at lest three of our women," Krotos was impressed...which didn't happen often. Taroc, the man across from Luna, merely nodded, not really having an opinion on the strange Halfling that had caught his Commander's attention.
After all the 'teams' had gathered, a Lolrunian emerged in the middle of the stadium. He stood high on a stage that raised up from the center, towering over the aliens teams. "Welcome everyone!" He announced loudly through some form of microphone. "These aliens wish to trade for precious rocks on our planet! Yet neither wants the other to gain them! So it's time to solve this in our own way!"
There was a tremendous cheer from the crowd. "Its time for the games! A series of contests and sporting events as per our tradition!"
The lights suddenly focused on the Klingons. "Our new friends from The Klingon Empire!"
The Klingons puffed out their chests and roared loudly, an intimidating show of strength.
The lights then switched to the Romulans. "And here are our new friends from the Romulan Star Empire!"
The Romulans just stood there, looking rather smug with themselves and not rising to the previous intimidation.
"Now our new friends from Orion!" The light focused on the Orions who waved to the cheering crowd.
"And finally, but not least our newest friends from The United Federation of Planets!"
The spotlights drowned the Starfleet officers in light, it's intense brightness suddenly hitting them as they focused on Akeno and her crew. The crowd roared and cheered again.
Luna stood ramrod straight, facing the crowd with her Klingon fire and Bajoran grace.
"I now declare the games open! Teams return to your designated areas whilst we set up for the first event!"
"Oh, that was teathrical" commented Lt. Cmdr. Johnson as he gathered with the rest of the selected officers "I just hope that second placers are not shot instantly" he tried to joke to ease the tension.
"Pff. Yeah, hopefully they at least get a running start!" Luna agreed, appreciating the Lt.'s humor.
"Well, looks like we're all set for the first event..." Akeno said with a nervous smile. They soon arrived at their 'Team Area' which was a small shelter at the edge of the stands. There were a few screens for viewing, some lockers and benches as well as a water dispenser.
It was then that the entire arena changed, turning instantly from being empty into a running track. It was clearly holographic in some form so it could be changed easily.
"Ok people! Let's do this!" Akeno said enthusiastically.
