The Check-Up Check-Up

Mission:
The Avenger
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Present
:ON:
Avery looked at the time, it had been 45 minutes. She had 15 minutes before she promised to be back in Sickbay. The upgrade reports were all signed off and stacked neatly on her desk, the load tolerances on the EPS conduits had been increased, shielding was reinforced around the warp core and impulse engines were running more efficiently than ever. She had even found a little bit of extra time to rig some additional shielding that would reduce the effects of electromagnetic interference on the bio-neural gel packs.
Content that engineering was as prepared as possible for entering the nebula, she bid her traditional end of shift farewell to the engines and headed towards Sickbay.
“One hour, well technically 55 minutes, as promised,” she stated with a self satisfied grin upon re-entering Sickbay.
"And here I was about to send your picture to security so you couldn't hide," Scott replied as he stood just inside the doors to sickbay, expectantly. "One last scan, a promise to make an appointment with the counselling department and you head straight back for a full nights sleep," he gestured to a biobed.
Avery chuckled as she made her way to the same biobed as before. “How about one more scan, a full night's sleep, and drinks in the mess hall later?” She countered. Normally, she hated doctors, but this one had a sense of humor and she always respected a person with a good sense of humor. Besides, she was new to the ship and needed to make friends. One of her favorite pastimes was getting into mischief and that was always more fun with someone to do it with.
"Not part of the deal," Scott's face dropped, his brow furrowed. "I went out on a limb to extend that hour as a professional courtesy. Let's not push it, shall we?" He went back to get his PADD and his scanners and went back to see if any other damage had been done.
“Fine,” she said, obviously disappointed. “One more scan, a promise to make an appointment with counseling and a full night’s sleep. Anything else?”
"You come back to me in a few days of rest and a healthier balance between work and rest and we talk about that drink then," he let his face relax slightly as he finished up his scans. "From this, you'd be floored after a few sips anyway and that's just a waste of a good drink."
She looked at him inquisitively for a moment before responding. “Deal,” she said, nodding as she hopped down from the biobed. He was a tough negotiator and she admired that. “If there’s nothing else?”
"I release you from sickbay to go and get a good night's rest. I still have security on standby if I see you out and about though," he smirked as he turned to start putting everything away.
“Have a good night then,” she said as she exited in the direction of her quarters.
