Mission:
Nothing To Fear...
Location: Bridge
ON:
Lieutenant Commander Zoey Perkins arrived on the USS Wayfarer fresh out of the shuttlecraft. The enlisted crewmen greeted her and took her to her room. Upon entering her room she dropped her bags off she always travelled light and asked for the Executive Officer location.
"She's probably on the bridge ordering repairs." The crewmen answered. Zoey nodded her dismissing the crewmen.
She exited her room turned left and went into the turbolift and went up the bridge and exited and looked around for the Executive Officer.
There were several officers working on the bridge. However the only one wearing red, only identifiable by the red pattern on her skirt at the time was currently under the helm console. Akeno was small, so she fit neatly under it as she worked on the repairs herself. All one could see was her black skirt, with a red trim and her legs sticking out.
Zoey approached the dwarf-like human under her duty station. Standing at the bottom of her feet she stood to attention following protocol. "Lieutenant Commander Zoey Perkins reporting for detached duty sir." She said in her strong thick Welsh accent
"Huh... what?" A muffled voice said from under the consoles followed by a fairly loud thud. "Ouch..." came a slight whimper. A few seconds later, the executive officer appeared. The young light brown haired Japanese woman pulled herself out from under the console. She was holding her head where she had obviously accidently introduced it to the helm console.
"Oh, hello there" she said still holding her head. "You'll have to excuse me, you're who again?"
Zoey thought her accent got in the way again for a moment but she replied. "Lieutenant Commander Zoey Perkins Second Officer & Chief Helm Officer Sir."
"Ah ok then" Akeno said as she rose to her feet. She ran her hand through her head. "Doesn't seem to be a bump yet" she smiled innocently at the other commander. "Well, welcome aboard. I'm sorry but I've not been her every long, the ship isn't exactly in a great state right now" she admitted. "I haven't even looked at the crew transfers" she explained. She leant against the console casually. "So, you're a pilot. You'll probably do a better job at fixing this than me" she said tapping the helm console with her palm. The lights on the helm flickered a few times before dying into blackness again.
Zoey folded her arms and lent her her right side. "I majored in Security. And your problems are why I've been detached." She said then looked at the console as it faded in blackness again. "Judging by your attempts the negative subspace variance has been rerouted through the active gravitropic transition capacitor... You've broken it easily fixable with a ion transference matrix." She said then looked up at the Commander
"It was already broken when I got here" Akeno said pouting slightly. "But, I'm no engineer I can admit that" she explained. "Anyways, you seem to know what you're doing. So it shouldn't be hard for you. Oh..." she stopped herself. "I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Commander Akeno Misaki. Sorry about that" she said with a smile. "Although, I'll admit that I'm not one for formalities"
Zoey didn't smile back or didn't look happy still arms folded she said. "And I'm a woman of protocol...Anything else Commander Misaki?"
"Well..." Akeno's tone dropped to that of what seemed like a child that had just been scolded. "Not really" she admitted. She wasn't sure how to read this woman, she was usually an optimist and always smiling. Commander Perkins seemed like the complete opposite. "Erm... have you ever worked on one of these Intrepid Class Starships before? Its my first time on one, I've only ever served on Excelsiors and starbases" she asked. She was hoping to initiate some sort of conversation to break the tension.
Zoey dropped her arms but not smiling. She answered "Spacedock, Constellation and Sovereign classes."
Nodding slowly "Ok..." she said. Akeno wasn't quite sure what to make of the commander. She gave off an aura as if she wasn't taking a liking to her. "Well. I'll let you get on with repairs" she smiled nervously. "Oh and Commander, it wouldn't hurt to relax a little" she added with a soft caring tone. "Afterall, we're Human. Unless there's something wrong?" she asked, her tone changing to that of concern for the womans welfare.
Zoey rolled her eyes. "I am relaxed sir." She said. "My problems are my problems." After that, she went under the console to fix what the Commander had done.
Akeno raised an eyebrow. "Well... ok then" she said. "But if you need anything, don't hesitate to come and see me ok. Thats what I'm here for afterall" she said in a more cheery tone. She turned and left the woman to her work. She had other stuff to do and bigger fish to fry, not that she wouldn't have taken the time out for the commander if she had needed to.
Zoey didn't respond to the Commander she carried on with her work.
