Mission: Deep Space Nine
Location: USS Wayfarer

Ithi walks out of the captains ready room looking at the ops station and heading up to it, adjusting her jacket a bit to talk to the Operations officer on duty.

Rosaleen was in her sixth our of applying updates to the Wayfarers various systems, and was about to the point of pulling her hair out from the tedium. 'I finish this one...it's dinner time.' It seemed like everyone needed something from Ops today, and of course everyone felt like their task was the priority. Just like always...

"Sorry to intrude Lieutenant, but the skipper said you can show me to quarters and my office?" she looked at how tired the woman looked

"Course, a padd with directions would work just as well to not add to your plate"

The air chilled a bit around them as Rosaleen turned to face Ithi, annoyed that yet something else was being asked of her. But upon seeing the face behind the voice, the temperature moderated as her features softened. Quickly reflecting on it, the request was considerable more reasonable than any other that she had received that day.

"I'm sorry. Yes, I can help you. The break would be nice. Your name?"

"Lieutenant Ithi Deritan, New Chief Intel officer on this beautiful ship that you seem to keep running in perfect order sweet thing" She smiles "Glad I can also help by giving you a break, you look stressed"

The air now warmed a bit as Rosaleen smiled. "Stress seems to come with the job. There are always a hundred things to do daily. Let's see...ahh, here we go." She logged out of the crew manifest system and walked around the console. "If you would like to come with me, I'll get you all fixed up." The Irish accent only punctuated her look. There was no doubt as to Rosaleen's background. For a while she had tried to work her accent away, but finally gave up on the endeavor once she realized that it could be advantageous. "This way." She started towards the lift doors.

She happily follows her, glancing her over, partially checking her out partially sizing her up, wondering about the temperature changes but saying nothing about them as she steps into the lift with her Ithi thinking at about a mile a minute, this cruse was going to be fun

As they entered the lift, Rosaleen simply said "Deck Three", the waited for their arrival. As the lift started to move, she started humming without realizing it. As the lift stopped, she started lightly singing as they exited.

"Anocht a théam sa bhearna baoil, Le gean ar Ghaeil, chun báis nó saoil..." They rounded the corner leading to the section where the officers quarters were located. "...Le gunna scréach faoi lámhach na bpiléar, Seo libh canaig amhrán na bhfiann." Rosaleen stopped to look at her PADD, then at the room number that they had stopped at. "Here we are...room 3-10A." She turned and smiled at Ithi. "Your new home away from home."

She smiles and puts in her code to open the door and steps in looking around for a moment. The room was smaller than she had back on earth, but about the same size when she was posted to DS9. "Amhrán álainn dála an scéil" as she smiles again and motions she could come in instead of standing in the hall.

Rosaleen smiled. 'Why not. I could use a few minutes away.'. She moved into the quarters, which was new and barren. "I'm sorry. I hadn't realized that I had been singing. Your Irish isn't half bad either, so my compliments. Very few speak it outside of the country these days."

She nods and heads to the replicator in the room " Intel Officer, six earth languages, five alien without a translator, comes with the job, can I offer you a drink? would have to be replicated till my gear is moved onboard but" she smiles as she orders herself a mocha.

Rosaleen walked over to the replicator. "Café au Drambuie." The cup that appeared almost looked like a desert. The whiskey wasn't real, but the flavor was close enough. It should be as Rosaleen had spent three years perfecting it. Taking the cup, she moved to sit in one of the chairs in the small room. She took a sip and closed her eyes for a moment, finally relaxing.

she sits down across from Rosaleen and sips her mocha for a moment before speaking "So, you've been on board awhile, anything you can tell me about the skipper and exec that won't breach the articles of shit talking about a superior officer?"

Rosaleen laughed, the air warming a bit as she did. "Oh, I can promise you that is one article I never worry about breaching. The Exec...he doesn't seem very approachable. Not that I am interested or anything, but I ran into him, quite literally, in the corridor earlier and before I could even say a sentence he was already gone. I tend to like to at least somewhat know the officers I work with, but with him tis going to be a bit difficult I fear. As for the Skipper, I've only had minimal encounters with him. He seems to know what he is about. A bit wet under the wings, so he comes off gruff. Like they teach you in the Academy to be when in a command roll. But I think he will come around. I'd say that first impressions, I like him. Good man to work for."

She giggles a bit "Well then I think the Exec might hate me, especially since I don't plan on being in Approved uniform very often, damn things too stuffy and well, I like being a tease and the uniform leaves nothing to be desired in form fitting. but the skipper since i do report directly to him is good to know he is good at least on first impressions" she smirks and leans back " and what about the op's officer, how is she to be around" she smirks again sipping on her mocha.

Rosaleen closed her eyes for a moment, focusing her concentration. Then she reached over and touched Ithi's arm. The sensation was akin to a slight static electricity, but not just a single 'zap', instead being a continuous flow, and was cool to the touch. Neither sensation was uncomfortable, but was definitely unexpected.

"Not your average Irish lass." Rosaleen responded with an impish grin.

She twitches a bit at the shock but doesn't pull away as she felt the coolness, and it was defiantly unexpected as she looks down at her arm and then back at Rosaleen " Interesting... Have to say that feels kinda nice, you must give excellent Massages since slight electricity helps relax muscles"

"My kind, well we have some interesting...gifts." Rosaleen responded, letting her hand fall away. "The problem is, most people tend to fear me. Or hate me. Even in this enlightened universe, old prejudices hold on." The air turned noticeably colder, and Rosaleen looked sad. "I knew that I needed to make this journey, but...it's been hard. I always feel like I'm being watched, and talked about behind my back."

She reaches out and takes the hand holding it " I wont hate you or fear you, so you at least can have that going. Talk behind your back, maybe, I'm an Intelligence Officer after all, I talk behind everyones back, part of the job. but I don't know you beyond your file and a.." she giggles "Spark between us, but if you need to talk, sit and relax, be kidnapped away from work. just hollar"

The temperature moderated a bit as a slight smile crept it's way across Rosaleen's face. "Thank you. I'll keep that in mind." She stood, placing the cup back in the replicator for reclamation. "Well, as much as I don't want to tear myself away, I must get back to things, lest I get further behind and have to skip sleep." She turned away for a brief second, then turned around and gave Ithi a quick hug. The combination of warmth and energy was...well, indescribable. in only lasted a brief moment before Rosaleen stepped back. "Thank you. This has been the first enjoyable moment I have had since coming aboard."

She hugs her back with a smile enjoying the warmth and energy "Any time, don't work too hard"
