Reporting to Command

Mission: In The Beginning...

Maddox's head was still reeling from the current events but for now this was a new start for him as he was taking command of the Security division on the USS Wayfarer an Intrepid class vessel. She was like Voyager the Test bed of the class but this one was more advanced. Gel packs where more advanced as they now had antivirus properties within the pack.

Maddox recalled a story where USS Voyagers gel packs were infected by spores caused by a cheese brought aboard by Neelix. Jason approached the ship and was met by a security officer. "Lt.commander Jason Maddox reporting for duty" He handed his ID to the officer. "Thank you Commander" as he offered the man his ID back. Once on board the ship Jason dropped his bits off and headed to the Captain’s ready room. He checked to make sure he was smart and rang the door chime.

“Enter!” came a voice from within the office.

Mezzo placed his frothy latte down onto the desk and watched as a Lieutenant Commander walked into his office. He had not had the time yet to read over personnel files in great detail, so wasn’t familiar with the officer’s name.

The Captain stood from his desk and met the officer as he entered the room.

“Welcome aboard the Wayfarer, Lieutenant Commander.” Mike smiled broadly, “My name is Captain Michael Mezzo, can I ask your name and your position?”

Maddox stood attention "Sir I am Jason Maddox, I am your Chief Security Officer and Second Officer, Reporting for Duty.” He gave the man his orders. He Paused some what "Sir I am really sorry but I received a message before taking this assignment it looks like I may have inadvertently put a Section 31 target on my back due to The Enterprise's latest mission. And their issues with 6 missing decommissioned starships."

He also handed a report that was sent by Enterprises CIO. "This should make things a little clearer but lets hope its me that they want and don't make trouble for you.”

Meezo read the PADD intently. Section 31 were getting bolder and bolder. At one point they would never have operated ‘out of the shadows’ in this way before. It concerned the Captain greatly.

“Look, Mr Maddox, I’ve been in command of this vessel for 5 minutes, but my first duty will always be to the crew.” he turned around and took a seat back behind his desk. “If Section 31 come looking for a fight in the future, that’s one thing; but if they threaten my crew I’ll hold you personally responsible.”

Mike felt a tinge of guilt as he reminded himself that Maddox had no knowledge of Section 31’s plan. “I’ll expect you to fulfil your duties to the highest standard, despite these... distractions. Is that understood?”

“Yes sir, perfectly clear. And I would never put any one at risk only my self. If this does not suit you I can al always ask for reassignment to some where else." Jason was fuming but didn't show it. He stood attention and then left. He decided not to look back at the Captain. He decided to go check in on the Security office.
