Location: Avenger Engine Room

Ensign Tyvok was glad to leave the company of Lt Paxton and Commander Davis, as it was beginning to become awkward. Lt Paxton was acting most curiously.

He climbed his way up to the second level of engineering, and made his way towards where the Commander had gestured. Standing in front of an exposed conduit of wires and duotronic circuits was a caramel skinned female human, wearing the rank pips of an ensign. She looked up and was immediately taken aback by him.

"I am Ensign Tyvok, a computer systems specialist. I have been instructed by Commander Davis to assist you," Tyvok stated, ignoring her reaction to him. Clearly word had not gotten around that there were Starfleet officers from the future on board.

She pulled herself to her feet, wiped some grease off of her hand onto her pants leg, and extended it. "H-hello.. I am Ensign Shadi Farhad, reactor specialist."

Tyvok looked down to her hand for a moment, and remembered shaking hands was a normal human greeting, and briefly took her hand. "Reactor specialist?", he arched an eyebrow.

"I took two credits of theory of computation at the academy. Our computer specialist, Lieutenant Gbadehan... " her voice cracked, and she collected herself.

"I understand, ensign." Tyvok was uncomfortable with such emotional outbursts from humans.

"Call me Shadi."

"Of course. Shadi, where can I find a layout of your computer systems?" Tyvok asked.

She gestured to the computer panel to the right of the open conduit.

Tyvok walked up to the console. "Computer, please display a schematic of the ship's network."

A beat passed, and there was silence.

"Computer?"

Another awkward beat. "It.. it doesn't have voice controls."

Tyvok looked at her, and arched his eyebrow yet again. "How... charming."

Tyvok pulled the keyboard from under the console, and began typing quickly. He immediately came across a login screen. He didn't have time to track down whoever had full systems access, so he lifted his left arm, and pulled a wire and adapter from his arm computer that he had replicated for interfacing with computers of this time. He immediately activated his suite of hacking tools that were purpose built for cracking into non-Starfleet systems, which would make short work of the Avenger's computer systems.

After a few moments, the console in front of him flashed green, and the words "Command Override Granted." Tyvok now had full access to the ship's computer systems, and could even trigger self-destruct if that system wasn't currently damaged.

Tyvok typed in a few more commands, and a full systems display flashed on screen, displaying compromised networking nodes.

"What kind and how many replacement parts do we have on hand currently. Shadi?" Tyvok questioned.

"Until we can synthesize more, we have four replacement duotronic processing modules, and as many duotronic jumpers as needed." Shadi replied.

Tyvok took a moment to take in what he was seeing on screen, and devised the most efficient plan he could utilizing rerouting and four replacement modules. "Processing node alpha-7, in helm control, needs to be replaced. Node Hotel-2 needs replacing in the hull plating system. Node Delta-1 in fire control, as well as node Uniform-12 in impulse control. I can reroute other non-essential system processes to bring essential functionality back to other systems, but you must replace those four nodes."

Shadi nodded, and looked to a couple of other engineers that were working nearby, "Banks, Ramirez! You're with me!"

The two men hopped up and grabbed the boxes of spare parts that were sitting on the floor, and followed her as she headed down to the first level.

Tyvok continued working in the system rerouting the processing nodes dedicated to the food synthesizers to the life support system. It was then that he noticed the communications node was VERY active.

He tapped on the screen, and opened the system processes. Immediately he noticed that they were transmitting on general frequencies in all directions. He tapped on the message to play it. He recognized the language as Rhiann'su (Romulan), as it was a language with similar roots to his own. It was clear that the message was the result of a primitive universal translator.

The Avenger captain said there might be Romulans on board. This has to be one of them, he thought.

Immediately, Tyvok cancelled the process, and used his command level access to lock out comms. Just to be safe, he also threw a firewall that used the best encryption that a duotronic system could muster. He then tapped his commbadge.

"Tyvok to Paxton, you should take a look at this."
