Akeno took a deep breath as she reached the junction that led to the corridor where the ship's main armoury was located. With her back against the wall, she peered around the corner. Instantly she pulled back returning to her position.

She couldn't help but feel a wave of horror and fear flood through her like a tidal wave. What she had seen in the split second of her peeking around the corner had hit her like a train. Three Tyranians clad in armour. No weapons on them, each of them with huge claws extended. Leaning over the bodies of two of her security officers. Akeno couldn't even recognise them as they were being ripped apart by the jaws of the Tyranians.

The sound and sight of them ripping into their flesh, eating them like untamed wild beasts, clearly enjoying the taste as they fed upon their victims. She dropped her phaser as one hand retracted to her stomach, the other to her mouth to prevent her lunch from reappearing. Her eyes opened wide as she crouched down, the fear, the horror had paralysed her body, she had just witnessed not only the death of her crew... but how their lifeless bodies were now diminished to nothing but food.

And now the continuation

Akeno could feel the vomit starting to rise in her throat. She was struggling to keep it down as cold sweat ran down her neck and face. Her surroundings were starting to throb and become blurry. She could hear her heart as she remained on the floor, crouched against the wall. The phaser sat only a few feet from her, yet she was frozen, paralysed and unable to reach out and grab it.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

They were coming.

Her eyes were focused forward on the grey wall ahead of her, the splatters of blood painted a picture; a picture of death. Out of the corner of her eye, a shadow emerged, it was slowly approaching. Looming out of the inky darkness towards her position. Yet, she couldn't move. It crept closer like a ghost, yet its footsteps were heavy.

Then it was looming over her. A huge reptilian creature. Its purple scales glimmered in the light as it looked down at her. Its jaws were open, stained with blood as it loomed over the fragile Akeno. Akeno could feel its warm breath as it neared her. She was shaking, trembling as she tried to scurry away only to be blocked by the wall.

A long arm reached out, huge sharp claws attached to strong fingers. With one quick swipe, it struck Akeno across the stomach. Ripping away her uniform with one strike. Akeno let out a whimper as she felt the claws dig into her skin. She looked down expecting it to have ripped out her intestines. However, it seemed to enjoy playing with its food.

Her breath escaped her lungs as she was lifted off the floor by its strong form. She was in its claws, her feet dangling off the deck. Her hands went to her neck, as she wiggled and struggled to get free. She could feel its claws crushing her neck, slowly suffocating her as it held her in the air. Its jaws were getting closer. It ran one long claw lightly down her stomach.

"Not... much... meat..." she heard it speak. "But female... My favourite..."

Akeno's eyes opened wider in horror as she saw its predatory eyes stare at her. The fire of hunger and predatory instinct was more than just alive in its eyes, they were all she could see.

"Please..." Akeno begged. "Don't... eat... me..." she tried to say. Her lungs were on fire as she could feel herself suffocating, its grasp on her neck becoming tighter, tighter and tighter. 'This is the end. Mum... Dad... I'm... I'm... sorry...'

Elias rushed the Tyranian, his teeth bared in rage as he let out a Caitian howl as he punches it in the jaw when he reached the two of them. Repeatedly, over and over again as he swings his stun lance, pushing it into the stomach of the Tyranian and letting it discharge its energy.

The Tyranian screamed in pain as Elias brings down his stun lance against it again and again until it was lying dead in a pool of its blood.

Akeno coughed as she tried to catch her breath. She had dropped to the floor, and was now looking up at the other Captain. "There... are... more..." She weakly pointed to the adjacent corridor. Even if Elias was well trained and armed, with the dampening field still affecting their phasers and weapons, even he couldn't fight a full army of them.

"Then we repel boarders with all might and effort, for now, we get to Engineering." Elias said as he hauled Akeno up and helps her down the corridor.

As she was literally pulled away, four more Tyranians came around the corner. They hadn't been spotted yet, but it was only a matter of seconds before they were seen and surrounded. They needed to find somewhere to hide, and quickly.

Elias headed away from the dino’s with impressive feline speed. "Would they go through the Jefferies Tubes?"

Both of them managed to get through a doorway and into one of the ship's many crew quarters. Finally, Akeno could catch her breath. She tried to hide the pain where she had been injured by the Tyranian's claws. "We should assume that they can use the Jefferies tubes." She finally replied.

She took a look around. "These are Ryan Middleton's quarters..." she stated. She noticed the photos on the sideboard. One showed the young man at his Starfleet Academy graduation with both his parents; another with a rather attractive young woman by his side, dressed in white. Finally a third photograph of him on the beach, a young girl and boy building a sandcastle with him.

"We need to get to Engineering. I've sent teams out to various parts of the ship." She explained to Elias. "I was hoping to secure weapons, but that's off the table now..."

THUD.

Akeno squealed in terror. She instantly backed away from the door. Then came the scratches and the scraping. More thuds from the door. She felt the sweat run cold on the back of her neck. They had found them.

Elias stood in front of her. "Find a fucking Jefferies tube access, we need to get down to Engineering!" Elias ordered as he raised the rifle that had been slung over his chest.

Akeno blinked a few times. "I don't think crew quarters have Jeffries tube access..." she said as she looked around nervously. The thuds on the door continued as she wandered through the quarters looking for some form of escape.

She moved throughout the spacious quarters, eventually ending up in the bedroom. It was then that she saw it. She knew that Lieutenant Middleton was Scottish and had great pride in his heritage, but she had never imagined he had something like this hung up on his wall.

"Will this do?" she asked. In her hand was a traditional Scottish broadsword. No doubt it was a part of Lieutenant Middleton's family heritage. "I don't think that Lieutenant Middleton will mind us borrowing it... If he's still alive, that is..."

Elias looked at the sword. It was about as big as Akeno was. "Give me that! Take this" Elias handed over his Compression rifle to Akeno.

"When it breaks in, shoot it, I'll come from behind, got it?"

Akeno nodded. She checked over the compression rifle. She had handled and trained with them plenty of times before. She set it to its maximum setting, she didn't want to take any chances. She looked over at the door again where the Tyranian was now attempting to enter.

She rushed over towards the windows directly opposite the door. She crouched and steadied the rifle, looking down its barrel as she aimed at the door. "Ready."

Elias stood to the side and slapped the door panel, letting the doors open, giving Akeno a good shot at the dino that was trying to break in.

Akeno held her breath as the huge purple-scaled Tyranian stepped in. It looked directly at Akeno, its jaws starting to open. Drool began to leak from between its large sharp teeth as its arms spread open ready to pounce. The low light shone off its long sharp claws as it took a single step forward. It didn't seem at all fazed by Akeno's weapon, clearly believing that it would have no effect on it.

"Now!" Akeno called as she pulled back on the trigger. Orange phaser bolts erupted from the barrel of the Compression Rifle. Akeno kept her finger pressed down for continuous fire. Each bolt struck the Tyranian causing it to stumble back. This level, if used on most other species, would usually kill and vaporise them, however the Tyranian's armour seemed to absorb it. Yet, it still had some effect on it, as it seemed to be in pain and stumbling from the impacts.

Elias waited for a moment before he came up behind the Tyranian and cleanly swung his sword in a horizontal arc, decapitating the Dino in a clean stroke with the heavy sword. He let out a growl as he did before he stood still, panting as the head rolled on the floor for a moment before stopping in front of Akeno.

Akeno rose to her feet as the Tyranian's head stopped directly in front of her. She went from being scared to something very rare for Akeno Misaki. Pure anger. She began to drive the heel of her boot into the Tyranian's head, pounding on it relentlessly. "How dare you!" she growled. "You come aboard my ship..." she continued to pound on it with her boot "You kill my crew!" She continued to abuse the skull with her heel. "You eat them.." Her stomps were getting more and more aggressive and powerful. "Die! Die! DIE! GET OFF MY SHIP!"

Elias picked her up, restraining her as she flailed. "THAT'S ENOUGH, CAPTAIN!! It's DEAD!"

From somewhere Akeno found strength and managed to free herself from Elias's grip. She turned to him with fire and pure anger in her eyes. She took a step towards him, her hand grabbed his collar. She cleverly used her momentum and weight to push him up against the wall. "You listen to me, CAPTAIN." she said. "I don't give two shits if you're here to evaluate me! I don't CARE if you're more experienced and stronger! This is MY CREW and MY FAMILY! You got that?!" she said angrily, her voice low and sharp. "Until those things..." she pointed to the door and the corridor. "Either kill or eat me! I am in charge here! I CALL THE SHOTS! This is MY SHIP!" her gaze was locked on his, and her eyes were full of fire, pain and pure hatred. This was not the Akeno Misaki that Elias had ever encountered, nor had anyone on the Wayfarer ever encountered.

"MISAKI!!!" He barked to snap her back to reality. "I get that, but we need to get the fuck out of here and down to the Engineering Deck. You want to protect your family and crew! We get to Engineering!!"

Akeno let go of him. She used the phaser rifle to indicate that he should go first through the door. "Go. I'll follow," she said simply. It was almost like she didn't want him to be out of her sight. "Get out there, and we get to the Jeffries tubes. We then get to Engineering. Understood?"

Elias stops. "I think it'd be easier if you went first." His face showed a bit of... not distrust, but more... he didn't like people behind him. A PTSD response.

Then we go side by side," she said firmly. "Lets go."

With that said, she turned on a heel, raised the compression rifle and strode off towards the door without another word. She didn't wait for Elias, nor did she slow down as she approached the door. There was no time for hesitation now, as Akeno Misaki was now in 'fight' mode. No longer would she let these Tyranians kill and eat her crew. No longer would she stand by and do nothing. No longer would she allow this slaughter to continue on her ship.
