Another One, Seriously?

Mission: The Avenger
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Prior to Mission Briefing

On:
Nyysa wondered if there was someone, somewhere, who got a kick out of filing erroneous medical reports. That had to be the only reason she was summoned to sickbay for what was bound to be her third physical in a week. The system was centralized, so it wasn't like the CMO didn't know that she was checked over in San Francisco and at her last command.

Looking around the room with a groan, Nyysa spotted a young man walking out of the Chief Medical Officer's office.

"Know where I can find Doctor Hayes?" she asked.

"This is your lucky day," Scott called out, "you found him on the first try!" Scott had just finished the better part of an hour filling out and submitting those erroneous reports. "And from reading over the crew medicals that I have so far, I am guessing you are Lieutenant Maldonado, my Science counterpart?"

She sized him up, force of habit. He was cute, she'll give him that, but he appeared to be a few years younger than his file suggests. Maybe she'll learn his secret at some point.

"Considering that we only have a handful of green people in this crew of a hundred and forty, that would seem quite obvious," Nyysa snarked. Taking a breath, she smiled. "Sorry, plenty to do and I did this already at HQ three days ago."

"I can see that," Scott said looking at his PADD he just picked up along with his scanning equipment. "It does seem like they like to poke and prod you a little. An upside though is that it should make this visit relatively quick and painless. Sometimes Starfleet does love their protocols and paperwork a little too much." He smiled as he gestured to a nearby biobed. Nyysa hopped up with ease. "Usual doctor questions then, I am sure you are used to. How are you feeling? Any worries? Specific family history you want me to be aware of?"

She chuckled. "I feel like we got dunked in the deep end of the pool, judging by the rush job they did in putting this crew together and I'm sure we're about to get very bad news. I'm a scientist on a ship that hasn't really been tested, so I'm worried by default. And, as my human surname would suggest, I have all kinds of family history. I could write a book. Might." He gave her a look of amusement. "I'm fine, Doctor, really. A tad stressed out, but no more than the usual when taking on a new assignment. I just need a couple rounds on the mats and I'll be fine."

"I have had a good look at your file, there is nothing concerning, I just always like to ask patients to see if there is anything particularly pressing to them," Scott replied as he went to pick up his scanner and began the slow, steady sweeps to begin his scan. "Stress is normal for a ship launch , particularly a quicker one like this and it is nice to see someone actually taking care of themselves for a change. Mats? Gymnastics or the more physical contact sports?"

"Mok'bara. It's Klingon. And Judo, if the mood strikes."

"Never been one for that kind of physical exercise," the doctor began, "I like my nose where it is." He gave a small laugh as he continued with the scan, "I'm more of a traditional gym lover, picking up heavy things and putting them back down again is what helps me keep everything regulated," with his free hand he tapped against his temples, "you'll also find me on an early morning, or late night run in the lower decks where I am least likely to bother anyone."

"I will keep that in mind." Nyysa took a breath. "As interesting as I find you, Doctor, I'm not a fan of Starfleet sickbays. Tell me I'm the picture of health and send me on my merry way."

"You are a picture of health and free to go on your merry way," Scott replied with a smile as he finished up his scans and put the equipment away.

"Great." She hopped off the biobed and straightened her uniform. "If you want kick around some science or need a running partner, let me know."

"I shall do Lieutenant, see you around," Scott replied as he went back to his growing to-do list.
