Mission: Nothing To Fear...
Location: Various
Timeline: Current

ON:

(08:50 hours)

Today was the day, the Wayfarer had spent the last couple of days sat in spacedock undergoing repairs. The crew along with engineering teams from Starbase 57 had been working around the clock getting her ready to depart.

Commander Misaki had arranged and booked the ships departure time at 09:00. Now it was just a matter of last minute checks and getting the Captains approval to take her back out into the vast depths of space. Their destination: Earth.

{Bridge}

The bridge was a hive of activity as Akeno entered, freshened up after a fairly decent night's sleep a d sporting a fresh command uniform. She did seem a little confused at to where Captain Sprague was. 'Maybe he's in the ready room...' she thought as she made her way to the central command area and eased herself down into the second command seat.

"Commander Misaki to Captain Sprague. We're ready to depart sir. Awaiting your presence on the bridge" she said after tapping her comm badge on her chest.

{Starbase 57, Guest Quarters}

Sprague continued to snore right through his beeping communicator, but it persisted. "What? Wait?" he finally snorted. He quickly reacquainted himself with his surroundings.

Something was wrong. He knew he was supposed to be somewhere else, but couldn't immediately place it. The Wayfarer... THE WAYFARER! He had missed all of the Commander's calls. He wasn't supposed to fall asleep. He sprang from the bed and put on his shoes, not noticing that one foot was missing its sock, and was out the door en route to the starbase's transporter room.

{USS Wayfarer}

Akeno drummed her fingers impatiently on the arm of her chair. The Captain still hadn't reported to the bridge, she couldn't take the Wayfarer out of spacedock without his permission. She was starting to grow impatient of this.

'Is he testing me, or does he not care. Something is going on here...' she thought to herself. He had refused all reports, all status updates and had spent more time eating ice cream and varied desserts than anything else.

She looked at the chronometer above the viewscreen, the Wayfarer should have left five minutes ago. They were now behind schedule. Akeno pulled herself up from her chair.

"Lieutenant Dampfish. Go find Captain Sprague, bring him to the bridge. Make sure he understands that we're not going anywhere until he does" Akeno ordered. Enough was enough, she was putting her foot down now.

"Aye. On my way." Basil turned on his heel and headed for the turbolift. "Computer, locate Captain Sprague," he said, as the doors whooshed closed behind him. "Captain's quarters." The turbolift slid into silent motion.

=Captain Sprague is not on board the Wayfarer=, stated the computer. Basil stopped a moment in surprise. "Transporter room." The lights slid the opposite direction.

"Computer, locate Captain Sprague on the station."

A moment's hesitation. =Captain Sprague is not on board Starbase 57= Basil creased his eyebrows in surprise as the turbolift stopped. He pushed past the opening doors, reflexively ducking on the way, turning toward the transporter room.

"Ensign, connect me to the station," he said, as he stepped through the door. "We need to locate the Captain...." The transporter lights beeped. "Pardon me, sir, but we have an arrival inbound," replied the ensign as he managed the console. The transporter shimmered as the column of light collapsed into the shape of Captain Sprague.

Was it an omen, Basil thought. Asking for the Captain's location on the ship and starbase at the exact wrong moments to get a non-answer. "Captain Sprague, would you like to see the bridge?"

"Uh sure," Sprague replied.

"It is nice to see you again, Captain; I had no idea at the time that you were joining us. We held the ship specifically for you."

{Counselors Office}

Talla was quietly listening to the ships intercom. She noticed the Wayfarer was over due to departure and the Skipper was technically AWOL and missing ships movement. She had a Suttle giggle about her as she continued to chew her bubble gum and playing with a yoyo. Tella would love to be a fly on the wall when this one gets explained. Would Sprague get a chewing from an Admiral or hilarious yet. His XO. Talla's MWR Officer got his requests for the replicators and holodeck programs. She couldn’t believe there was such a thing as Burger flavored salad. Yuck, she thought as she scrunched her noise as if she could actually see and smell it. The old Earth holodeck program for New York might actually be interested. She was amused by the Soup Nazi character. {I'll have to check that out later}, she thought.

{Bridge}

Lieutenant Commander Perkins had sat in the XO's seat in control as Commander Misaki wasn't here yet. Zoey always went to work 20 minutes earlier.
When the turbo lift doors slide open and Commander Misaki exited, Zoey jumped up and manded the helm. Wasn't much to do but check if the course was still correct and the engine levels were within the safety. But she couldn't of keeping thinking about Staff Warrant Officer Sh'wuwiss said during her medical elevation.

{Intel Office}

Ithi sat in the office staring at her computer reading over reports and stuff that had nothing at the moment to do with the wayfarer or their trip back to earth. thinking about what the hell she was doing onboard, she was a direct action specialist not a desk jockey.. maybe she should take her TR-116 down to the holodeck and get some practice in, but no... she knew exactly who she'd use as a target and that wouldn't be a good thing.

What the hell was she doing thinking things like that, maybe something left over from chaos... or was she just loosing her control.

{Bridge}

Tyvok had taken his station at the Engineering console, and was running a few last minute diagnostics on the mains. He had left Ensign Rodriguez in engineering to monitor the warp core, that being his specialty. He had also written a few AI subroutines to manage power distribution, something that most CEOs preferred to manage manually, to inefficient results.

He noticed the very obvious absence of the Captain, but said nothing. This was something for the command team to sort out. His job was making sure they didn't blow up when the order to disembark was given.

"Captain on the bridge," announced Dampfish as he and Sprague stepped through the bridge doors.

Sprague's un-socked foot shifted in its shoe, causing him to trip sideways. "Ouch," he yelped as his head collided with the door.

"Captain, are you alright???" Dampfish asked, grabbing Sprague's arm to help straighten him up.

"Never felt better," Sprague replied even though his head was still spinning. He was seeing double so the Lieutenant in front of him appeared to have four pips. He regained his balance and made his way toward the back of the bridge, behind the center chairs.

Akeno looked over to Sprague. She pulled herself out of the executive officers chair. The entire room fell silent as many of them stared at the captain waiting for orders.

Sprague's vision cleared and he noticed Akeno was looking at him. So were several others. "How long til Earth?" was all he could think to ask.

"Erm..." Akeno replied. "Once we have orders from the Captain to depart, roughly four to five days."

Sprague smiled. "Five days, I like it." Akeno continued to stare at him. "What, me?" Akeno raised an eyebrow. Sprague remembered reading about the famed Captain Kirk giving the order for the Enterprise-B to leave spacedock for the first time. "Well, okay." He took a step forward and cleared his throat. "Take us out."

"Well OK..." Akeno said in response. "Helm, clear our departure with space traffic control" she ordered. "Take us out nice and easy with the rear thrusters, once we're clear set a course for Earth and engage at warp six"

She glanced back at Captain Sprague. She was still wondering if this was still his way of testing her.

Zoey watched as Captain Sprague & Commander Misaki exhanched awkward glances s she placed her hair neatly in a bun. When the order was given she stopped leaving half of her hair is a mess on the top and dangling off the side of her head spinning around in her chair tapping away at the console at it beeped in confirmation. "Course entered...Ops have cleared us." She said. "Engaging thrusters."
With those last words, the USS Wayfarer exited the space doors of Starbase 57 re-entering the cosmos again.
"Cleared Starbase 57. Engaging at warp 6 on heading 1.23 2.79 Earth."

Sprague then remembered more of his history... Captain Kirk didn't make it back from the Enterprise-B's maiden voyage. He quickly left the bridge before anything else could happen.

Akeno watched Sprague leave. "Commander. You have the bridge" she said addressing Zoey. "I need to talk to our non-present Captain..."

Zoey with her back to the XO when the command was given said “Aye sir.” Standing up from her seat and walking towards the XO chair said to the crewmen manning the Helm. “Helm standby as she go’s.”
