Another Assignment

Mission: Deep Space Nine
Location: Deep Space 9

The shuttle door wheezed open. A hand reached out from the interior and stabilized its ascent, giving it a slight upwards boost. A graying head followed, connected to a lanky uniform that was trim but not necessarily neat.

Basil Dampfish stepped out of the shuttle, swinging a stuffed duffel bag onto the shuttlebay floor. He glanced around, noting the locations of nearby exits and vantage points as his gaze swept the area.

"Mr. ah, Dampfish, sir?" An aide stepped closer, extending a PADD. "Your orders have arrived."

Basil grunted and waved as he accepted the PADD. He thumbed the display active as he vaguely dismissed the aide, stepping away from the creaking shuttle.

The orders seemed straightforward: Report to U.S.S. Wayfarer as Chief Tactical Officer, currently stationed at DS9. Further orders and assignments to follow.

He shrugged as he shouldered the duffel bag, oriented himself with a glance at the station map on the wall and strode ahead, unconsciously ducking as he passed through the shuttlebay doors.
