Captain’s Log

“Captain’s Log, stardate 53591.572.”

Mike had decided to record his first log as the Captain of the Wayfarer. He was still sat behind his desk, Maddox having left the ready room moments earlier.

“This is my first log as commanding officer of this vessel, and I already feel like I’m treading water. My Chief Security Officer and Second Officer has found himself in a situation with Section 31 which may have some ramifications for this ship in future.”

He stood and crossed over to the replicator to order himself a fresh frothy latte. He continued his log; “I’ve yet to meet any of my other senior officers, but I’m hoping in the coming hours they will arrive safely on the Wayfarer in time for our launch.”

Taking a seat back in his chair, he blew across the top of the mug of coffee gently and took a quick sip. “Rear-Admiral Savage gave me the Wayfarer’s first mission while I was in her office earlier this morning. It’s certainly an unusual mission, and I’ve yet to share it with the crew yet. Once my senior staff have arrived I will convene a meeting in the briefing room.”

He looked around the office, and out towards the window. Mars was bright, orange and spectacular at the moment. “For now, I’m going to enjoy these next few hours of peace before getting us underway. Computer, end log.”
