Mission: Nothing To Fear...
Location: USS Wayfarer
Timeline: Day 1-Earlier that morning

'...you can hear me...you can hear me my dear. Now it's time to play...'

Rosaleen sat upright in bad, the room so cold that she could see her breath. She was shaking, but not from the temperature, but rather the shadow that seemed to have passed through her. It was an experience like none she had ever known, and it wasn't pleasant. Rosaleen realized that she was on the fringe of control, and slowly started to reign herself in. Gradually the temperature returned to normal, and her breathing and heart rate slowed to near normal. But her mind was still racing. Whatever had invaded her sleep...she didn't want to go back there.

Glancing at the chrono, she realized that breakfast would be available in the wardroom. The Wayfarer had brought back the tradition of having real chefs and staff prepare real food. It was a bit of a logistical pain in the ass, but the end result was worth it. She finally willed herself to get out of bed, and threw on the first thing she could locate, which was a royal blue sundress. She would have time to return and change before shift. Exiting her room, Rosaleen made her way quickly to the officers mess, where she was surprised to find someone else already there.

She stood silently for a moment, weighing her thoughts. 'Why not?' She quickly decided, and approached the table where the other person was already enjoying her breakfast. "I'm sorry...is this seat taken?"

Ithi sat there eating her breakfast, just some cereal with granola as she looks up seeing Rosaleen and smiles brightly "Not at all please join me"

She watched her for a moment "How did you sleep oh jolty one?"

Sitting, Rosaleen placed her chin in her hands, elbows resting on the table. "Let's not talk about that." A slight chill crept into the air. "What are you doing up so early?"

She giggles slightly "I'm usually up early, today was no different, up at 0400, little bit of a Forrest run in the holodeck, followed by a swim, then some meditation and combat training, now breakfast before I actually start work"

She does frown a bit at the don't talk about it, but at the moment doesn't push it. "If you think this is early, what are you doing up so early yourself?"

She pointed at her head with one finger. "Too much weirdness going on in here. I needed to escape so, here I am." Breakfast had sounded like a good idea, but now...the idea of food was unappealing. "What is all the chatter about, by the way? Some prisoner we are transporting? Seems like overkill for a ship like this. Seems like they just could have used a runabout."

Ithi finishes her bite of food before speaking. "Some telepath, though he's got some kind of collar on to block his abilities. and apparently some form of mass murderer, he's security's problem so I don't have a full file on him"

She looks at Rosaleen a bit more and feels the temperature is still low, like when she annoyed her on the bridge before she warmed up "What kinda weirdness?"

Rosaleen leaned back in the char stretching. "Just weird dreams, that's all. I've them before at times. Still trying to get used to them even after all of these years." She glanced at the coffee brewers and decided against it. The caffeine wouldn't help her state of mind. "You would think my shielding techniques would be better by now. Eh...it is what it is."

"Ahhh nightmares and the like? perhaps talking with the doc can get you some sleep aids so you don't dream, Not sure if they help with bad dreams though, never had a nightmare or bad dream myself" she smiles and sips on her own coffee but notices her look at the coffee and then not go get one so slides her Orange juice over to her.

Picking up the glass, Rosaleen quickly downed the contents, realizing for the first time how thirsty she actually was. "Thank you. I needed that more than I realized." Her internal temperature had normalized. She placed her chin back into her palms, but this time she made direct eye contact with Ithi. Rosaleen's eyes were like fine ice crystals that cut through right to your essence. "So...tell me about yourself."

She smiles "what? about me as a woman, or me as an intel officer?"

An impish smile in return. "Can you tell the story of one without the other?"

She smirks and sips her coffee for a moment not breaking eye contact, slightly getting lost in those blue eyes as she thinks for just a moment. " Well 28, human and Romulan hybrid, My father worked for Starfleet marine, my mother was a tal'shiar bitch. My birth was not willing on my fathers part."

She thinks for a moment " I have no friends, my father died after i was sent back with him to live in the federation." she sighs "I have never known love, never known fear, I do all my missions and duty's with glee, including missions that Starfleet does do., I'm not a good person Rosaleen, truthfully, I have a dark heart and soul, I'm a killer pure and true. I want to find love someday, can't deny that but i don't know. I'm broken I guess"

Ithi sips her coffee "I..... I do wish i had friends, it gets lonely being pretty much myself and doing my job as attachments lead to pain, hence I sleep around a lot just for fun"

Rosaleen moved to take one of Ithi's hands into her right one, still resting her chin. The tingling sensation was there once again, but something else...something Ithi couldn't quite put into coherent thought. Rosaleen's eyes took on a different hue, and the air around them warmed.

"Dear, you are not broken. And you are not a bad person in any sense of the word. You are...lost. Wandering through this existence trying to find yourself. Who you truly are." Rosaleen looked down for a moment, as if in thought, then looked up only with her eyes, once again solidifying the connection between them. "And to be honest, you are quite lovely as well. Your darkness is exquisite, and physically, well you are no slouch." That impish smile again. "And by the way, you are wrong. You do have a friend." Rosaleen squeezed Ithi's hand as she said the last part.

She looked at Rosaleen and squeezed the hand back as she smiles softly "T-thanks. most people find out I'm pretty much an assassin and go screaming running for the hills." Her cheeks are flushed a bit in a blush from the compliments on her darkness and body.

'Time to play...'

A shiver ran down Rosaleen's spine. Something was...she couldn't quite pin it down. She stiffened a bit, and the air chilled once again. But she rapidly recovered, the smile never leaving her face. But she suddenly felt compelled to go somewhere else. Somewhere...

She squeezed Ithi's hand once again. "Well, as much as I hate to do so, I must get ready for the day. The lists never seem to get smaller. And this Audit...ugh, I could do without ever experiencing one ever again. But, no such luck. The bean counters have to be appeased." She laughed as she said the last part, and stood up to leave. "We absolutely must do this again, and soon. It's been...fun."

Ithi smiles and nods as she stands to head out as well "You know where to find me."

Rosaleen exited the mess and headed back towards her quarters. As she walked an old Irish lullaby started to flow through her head, and she found herself humming as she walked. She was so distracted that she didn't realize that she had missed her quarters. Or that she had entered a lift and made her way to another deck. She came out of her head to realize that she was standing outside of a location the she had neither the intention or need to be at.

She was standing at the door to the ships Brig.
