Captain’s Log

“Captain’s log, star-date: 53605.1, having concluded the mission briefing a few hours ago, and I find myself feeling slightly anxious about the adventure ahead. Not negatively, but not exactly positively either.
I have no doubt that with the senior staff of the Wayfarer leading this investigation into the Rolor Nebula, we will find what we are supposedly looking for.
Sciences are working hard on analysing that piece of hull plating, security and tactical are working alongside operations to ensure that we are ready for any surprises that may pop up. Medical and counselling departments are also reporting as ready for anything. I couldn’t be prouder of this new crew. Their efficiency and dedication this early has impressed me.
Commander Sito is still pushing some boundaries with me, but I’m not going to let that distract me at this time. I’m still hoping his exemplary service record and experience will come in use eventually.
Some good points were brought up by the crew regarding the USS Avenger, and perhaps some more questions were also raised. I find it frustrating that I don’t have the answers for them at this time. But that is why we are out here; to explore the unknown.
I have also done some preliminary research into the Avenger. She was a tough ship by all accounts. Fighting some harsh battles during the Earth-Romulan war, and also coming to the aid of stricken vessels on dozens of occasions. Captain John Dante was being lined up for a big promotion once the war ended, but due to the ship’s disappearance only a three weeks before the conflict ended, this didn’t happen.
As I sit here in my ready room, I find that my mind keeps going back to the Avenger, and what kind of condition she will be found in. Will we find the bodies of the crew? I don’t really want to be thinking about that sort of thing unnecessarily, but it could be an eventuality that the away team will need to bear in mind.
We will be arriving at the Bajoran system in approximately two and a half hours. I’m hoping sciences will have something to report about the hull plating by that time, but its such a short timeframe for them to be working under. I know they will do their best under Lieutenant Maldonado’s leadership.
End Captain’s log.”
