Personality & Traits

General Overview "A place for everything and everything in its place." Jack Kennett is a no-nonsense officer who thrives on order, cleanliness, and a clear chain of command. He's by no means rude, but has been described as "cold" or "no fun" by other members of Starfleet who've worked with him in the past. He's the space equivalent of a Boy Scout: honest, earnest, and believes that most people want to do the right thing. Anything beyond the boundaries set by the "rules" is completely foreign territory to Jack.

Jack has no true desire for exploration and adventure. At least he has yet to encounter anything that's awoken that feeling in him. His service aboard the Wayfarer is a part of his long term plan to advance in Starfleet.

"Rules are the celestial bodies that orient the starships of our souls."
-Jack Kennett
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths: He is extremely trustworthy, competent, and thorough. If you give him a task, it will be done to the letter and it will be done efficiently. He also truly wants the best for the team. He believes that a rising tide raises all ships and works hard to make sure officers and crewmen below him are supported and held to the high standard Starfleet has set.

Weaknesses: He could use some imagination and street smarts. Rigidly following the rules sometimes makes it impossible for him to think outside the box for unorthodox solutions. He also has difficulty making personal connections. His insistence on propriety prevents him from making close personal friendships within the fleet. He's also wound tighter than a Swiss watch and, if he ever snapped, he'd implode in on himself like a dying star.
Ambitions Jack wants to work on the most prestigious ships in Starfleet and, one day, become an Admiral. Nothing less will do.
Hobbies & Interests Jack is an avid tennis player. He also builds model ships (the ancient earth vessel kind from the 17th Century) in his spare time. His belief is that hobbies should build either your body or your mind. Otherwise, they are a waste of time.

Personal History Jack Kennett was born to Drs. Hayden and Mary Kennett in San Francisco near Starfleet Headquarters. His parents are well-respected medical doctors within Starfleet. Jack's entire upbringing was geared toward him following in their footsteps to become the greatest doctor the Federation had ever seen. During those formative years, Hayden and Mary began to see that Jack was more fond of machines than he was of people. Machines were predictable, reliable, and easier to deal with for the young prodigy. They leaned heavily into his strengths and supported his fondness for engineering.
Service Record The USS Wayfarer is Jack's first commission out of Starfleet. He worked very well in the shipyards immediately following his graduation, but ultimately knew that no Starfleet officer can every really advance without having served aboard an active ship.
