Personality & Traits
| General Overview | At first glance, Andrew Holland is a man that is fully engrossed in his job and teeters on the edge of information overload as he tries to bring every intelligence report and astronomical survey together into a great map of the galaxy in his mind. He is rarely caught away from his work station without a PADD in hand with some review of security protocols or reports from the far reaches of Federation space. |
|
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Andrew is obviously dedicated and has a great deal of compassion for the citizenry of the Federation. He is a true believer. However, Andrew is so focused on the big picture that he often misses the nuances of the life right in front of his face. He has missed out on the life he wants to guarantee everyone else in the Federation |
|
| Ambitions | . Lt. Holland would like to see Starfleet one day realize that the enemies they have call for vigilance on a scale that the Federation simply has never reached. Although exploration and peaceful contact is the goal of all Federation citizens and Starfleet officers, there are simply too many sentients out there that wish to see the Federation fall. There is a need for more aggressive vessels, marine training, and more dedication to the tactical side of Federation defense. |

| Personal History | (This history is incomplete, and will be filled in as time goes on.) Born in Bantas Lake, New York on October 12, 2350 to Lewis and Patricia Holland. Andrew, named after his paternal grandfather, was raised in upstate New York for the first thirteen years of his life. It was then that his father decided to move both mother and child on board the USS Cortez, a Monarch class freighter registered to the UFP Merchant Marine. For the Next five years, Andrew lived, played and attended school on the vessel with other children from the crew. As the son of the first officer, there was a lot of pressure on him to have the right behavior, skills and interests. All aspects of his life reflected upon his father in such a small community. Andrew was able to experience a great deal of interesting places, new faces, and exotic cultures while traveling on board the Cortez. He was also exposed to many of the frontiers of Federation space and the inherent dangers of this aspect of life on a starship. He was infected by the wanderlust of it all. At the age of eighteen, he applied for the academy and graduated 84th in his class. During his stay on Starbase 375, Andrew received counseling for his survivor’s guilt over the destruction of the USS Thunderchild and began to entrench his belief that the UFP and Starfleet needed hyper-vigilance in the face of its many enemies. Andrew's experiences in the Dominion War showed him that a necessary change in Starfleet preparedness, and strategy were not only over due, but essential for the survival of the Federation. |
