| Personal History | Koko Nosa was born on May 28, 2348 as the youngest child of Rabbi Isaiah Nosa and wife Mariya. As the daughter of a Rabbi, Koko grew up in a Jewish household. As a kid, Koko was quite close with her older brother Elijah, though as they grew older, it became clear that Elijah was going to follow in his father's footsteps, and become a Rabbi himself, moving to Israel to study the Torah. And for a time, Elijah kept in touch with Koko. However, tragedy would strike when Koko was fourteen in 2362: That year, Elijah was murdered in violent confrontation in Jerusalem. His death affected Koko greatly, and her relationship with her parents became strained as a result, breaking down completely two years later when Koko was sixteen. Koko decided to act upon one of the last conversations she'd had with Elijah, and do what made her happy. Against her parents' wishes, she signed on with a talent agency and became an actress. Koko's earliest roles were duds, to say the least: Cheesy roles in forgotten dating simulators. They were work, but it wasn't necessarily the glamorous life she thought it was. Her breakout role, however, came when she was eighteen. Her agent encouraged her to audition for a role in a Western holonovel called "The Last Ride at Black Canyon". One which sounded like she was going to be the main character, but once she read the script, realized she'd landed the role of "big chested comic relief." Not wanting to be resigned to the role the script had made for her, Koko did everything she could to steal the spotlight from her costars, and her zany antics was one of the reasons Last Ride at Black Canyon became an unexpected runaway success. A sequel was ordered in short time, in which Koko reprised her role. However, during early production, Koko was injured in an on set accident. Her injuries were quite severe, and as a result, her character had to be written out of the script, as the studio was understandably hesitant to recast the role and have a different actress not bring the same zany energy Koko had brought. As Koko recovered, her father visited her often, saying he "told her something like this would happen", and wished that once she recovered, Koko would stop this "acting nonsense" and come back to the Jewish life she had abandoned. However, in one final act of defiance, Koko found out that her great aunt on her father's side, Torra Nosa, had also defied her family's wishes to remain Jewish and had entered Starfleet, rising to the rank of Commodore before her retirement. Once Koko had recovered, she terminated her contract with her talent agency and retired from acting, but also put in an application for Starfleet Academy. |
